Dr. Fischler is very arrogant and condescending. I see similar complaints from other patients. I repeatedly tried to give him another chance hoping he maybe he had a bad day but the same traits time after time. I have to say, as a health care professional myself, he does not respect other opinions nor to be challenged. Horrible way to interact with patients. I will be seeking a new Pulmonologist.

One word.....Horrible! Getting my records for myself and family and changing Drs office! He is rude and so is the staff. They are negligent and I will be making a formal complaint to the AMA.

My first impression of Dr. David Fischler was that he's a nice and caring physician. But as many other RateMD comments pointed out about Dr. Fischler, at the slightest bit you question what he says he becomes immature, defensive, and accusatory. In addition, the staff in his office repeatedly insisted on charging me a copay that I am not responsible for paying. I have a primary and secondary insurance, and I do not pay a copay on my secondary insurance when it's not the primary payor. It's odd that his staff were so unfamiliar with my insurance structure, because it's very common. But, to settle the issue, I even called my insurance company to verify the correct co-pay… And even after receiving confirmation that I am not to pay two co-pays, they still insisted that I pay more than what my insurance policy dictated. I'd like to point out that this is a blatant case of insurance fraud. You cannot ask a patient to pay more than what their insurance policy dictates. I urge any patient who goes to this practice, and has a primary and secondary plan, to call their insurance companies and check what their co-pays should be… Because it is almost a guarantee that Dr. Fischler's staff will try to collect more than they are legally allowed.

I was reading these reviews while waiting in the office and was expecting an ogre. I was so surprised to find him kind, understanding, and just a genuinely nice , knowledgeable, professional !

My husband was admitted to RWJUH ER with a fractured hip on a Friday and I wasn't contacted by anyone from Dr. Fischler's group until the following Wednesday, after complaining to my husband's GP and the Social Worker. When Dr. FIschler finally called he was was defensive, curt, dismissive and disinterested in anything I had to say. My concerns were based on the fact that my husband has Parkinson's disease with dementia and his mental state was not stable as the result of a number of factors, including a reaction to anesthesia and being improperly medicated in the hospital. Very early on in the conversation he said that I'm "Not nice", apparently because I was questioning him and disagreeing with his assessment. We had a difference of opinion on my husbands's readiness to be discharged and his parting shot was to state that if I wasn't interested in my husband getting better it wasn't his problem. My husband was unable to speak for himself and I was acting as his advocate. Dr. Fischler has no right to treat patients and their families in a disrespectful manner based on his ego. It's not about him ~ all parties need to look at the big picture and work in the best interest of the patient. He deserves no stars.

Dr. David Fischler is one of the most arrogant, condescending, unprofessional and rude person we have ever come in contact with. We are filing a formal complaint with RWJ. He does not deserve the overall rating of one star.

Do not use this dr, had a family member under his care and he repeatedly gave us wrong information. Treated him for something completely unrelated to what the actual problem was. Refused to come into the room when any family members were there bc he was "scared bc they think I'm an idiot because I've been wrong every time I've seen them" does not return phone calls and is generally rude and condescending. All things family members of a dying patient do not need!!

Had a Family member that was in ICU at Robert Wood for cancer issues, please assure that Dr Fischler is not your doctor, terrible with communication, and does not return phone calls, when we called him many times..all we heard was bad news, The doctor is not good to assist with positive results..Sounds like he needs a family member of his to be in ICU so he can feel the pain !!!

Dr. Fischler is personable, considerate, and inspires confidence. He listened to my complaints and nailed down the problem like no one else has been able to do for the past 10 years, while communicating to me clearly and without condescension. He respected my dislike for taking medications and did not overprescribe. Good doc.
