My big issues were communication and her ethics. Here are my examples: #1: I had extreme itchiness for the last 6-8 weeks of my pregnancy. I called the office a few times to ask their advice and tried benedryl, zyrtec and oatmeal baths they recommended. Dr Gerdes never called me back. Despite my three attempts, I finally had my regular checkup and she informed me that I should've called and I should go get my blood tested in case it was a more serious issue. It turned out it was a more serious issue. #2: Toward the end of the pregnancy, we had been told that we needed to schedule a c-section. Dr. Gerdes was supposed to help schedule a couple of times, but never called me back to confirm dates After the fourth time, my husband was in the office and asked her to call the hospital to confirm a time. She got angry with him and then suggested we switch doctors at 37 wks! She said people did it all the time, but other doctors we talked to said this was dangerous and unethical.

I wanted to share my delightful encounter with Dr. Olivia Butt. I had recently moved up here from Los Angeles and was looking for an OB/GYN doctor for my annual checkup. I had asked around town and Dr. Gerdes came highly recommended. I called the office for an appointment but due to limitations with my own schedule, I had difficulty finding the right time. I was told there was another new doctor, Dr. Olivia Butt, who had a little more flexibility in her schedule to see me, so I decided to give her a try. She didn't mind taking the time to discuss some concerns I had and was very efficient during my examination. She told me she joined the practice recently and had moved here from New York City not too long ago. She was very open and friendly throughout the appointment. She is very professional, competent, and friendly. I felt very comfortable and at ease during the examination. I would definitely recommend her as a doctor.

Dr. Gerdes is one of the most personable physicians I've had. She is no nonsense and clear in her explanations.

I was seeing Dr. Gerdes for a few years with positive results. Then I went off bc to become pregnant was in extreme pain. She refused to give me pain medicine because I was trying to conceive. I mentioned a family history of endometriosis and she did nothing. I found a new doctor who gave me pain meds and did a laparoscopy to see if I in fact had endometriosis and a year later I had to have 3 surgeries because of my advanced stages. I think if you are looking for general help Dr. Gerdes is good but if you are looking for anything beyond that I would not recommend her.

Dr is very in tuned and personable. She sits and listens to every word you have to say. I understand the reason for my appts being seen late is because she wants to see everyone and give them full attention. I noticed the only time she seems distant is when something else is going on that is a bit more serious then my current situation. That shows to me that she is not only a great DR but she also still has a heart which is usually left at the door before you enter medical school. Being in the military and having during my pregnancy with having to say the "yes sirs" and "no sirs" while my legs are in the air exposed to the world has also cut some of the stress out for me and my family. It just gives us comfort and more joy into these appts without worring if you are addressing her correctly. Dr Gerrdes is also a kind heart person that is also there to give out hugs when you need it and also lollipops! LOL

A wonderful, friendly doctor who is very caring but often late. That said, she does not run a "Fast-Food" practice, which is to say she gives you as a patient her full care and attention and you never feel rushed. My wife and I love her. She even gives us each a hug when we come in. If you can deal with her running 15-20 minutes behind, I highly reccomend her!

Dr. Gerdes was great in the delivery room and throughout my pregnancy. She was thorough and supportive. And as a sole practitioner, I knew it would most likely be her to deliver my baby, which was good to know as I trusted her skills. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an ob.

Dr. Gerdes is probably a good doctor for pregnancy & delivery. Her walls are filled with many many pictures of babies she's delivered over the years, which is wonderfully celebratory, but might be distressing to those who are childless not by choice. On my single visit to her, her bedside manner was abrupt and insensitive to the level of pelvic pain I was in. She walked out of the examining room while I was asking her a question about the medicine I was to take and I had to follow her down the hall to get the question answered, which was very important as my appt for follow up was three months from then. I immediately sought medical help elsewhere.

I found her to be late for several appointments. As for helpfullness she seemed to expect me to ask questions and provided little usefull information otherwise. I chose her beccause I had read that she valued minimal use of medication. I was very disapointed however when i found out she quickly chose to administer medication without sufficient cause or consideration of my feelings. As to Knowledge I have no doubt as to her depth of knowledge on the subject of childbirth, however her bedside manner left little room for our own search for answers from the internet and web columns like this as she warned they are often wrong. I must admit that my experience with her was not well represented by the other two posts before this which hold her in high regards.
