Dr Elfelt delivered my son in May of 1990. My regular Dr. Brand left for vacation that morning. I was in labor 27 hours and had never met Dr. Elfelt until 5 minutes before delivery. He was very busy during that time. Dr. Brand told me that he would have done a C-Section but not Dr. Elfelt ! No pain meds, no visits, nothing ! All natural!!! He has caused me a lifetime of medical issues because he was pulling on the afterbirth and made me lose alot of blood. I am now 56 with a Non existant pituitary because of Dr. Elfelt!!! Years of pills and shots in my stomach everyday because he couldn't or wouldn't wait for my afterbirth. If you are a patient of his....I'm begging you to change doctors!!!! He is a horrible doctor and has the worst bedside manners.

This is my first pregnancy, so I'm nervous enough. My first appt seemed ok at first, but as it went on, his abhorrent bedside manner became apparent. He did the ultrasound and found a yolk sac. Any other doctor would say something like, "It is probably too early to tell anything," but he seemed like he was already giving up on the pregnancy. As he was walking out the door he said I could do a blood test. So it's my husband and I in the room, freaked out with no answers. I got the blood tests (didn't quite wait 48 hours).I went in a week later, and the fist thing Dr. says to me when he walks in is, "I looked at your numbers, and they don't look good for the pregnancy." I asked then if he noticed that it had not been 48 hrs between tests. Nope He did an ultrasound and found a heartbeat. All he said was "oh, well, come back in two weeks and we'll go from there." You'd think he'd actually look closely at the chart before telling a "first-timer" that she was going to miscarry.

AWFUL! I stopped going to him due to his krappy bedside manner and unwillingness to spend any time with you. After seeing the nurse practitioner (who I liked) and having protracted bleeding for four months, they finally had me see Dr. Elfelt again because he could do an ultrasound right then and there if need be. He acted as though I was annoying him and taking up his "valuable" time. He kept asking me "why" I was doing certain things, and I told him it was because the NP had told me to when I called with the bleeding problems. "Well, I don't know why she would tell you to do that. That makes no sense." He only read my chart AFTER I started telling him what the NP had done, and then completely dissed her like she was an idiot. After recommending all kinds of procedures, doubling up birth control pills, etc., I decided to go elsewhere for a second opinion. NOT caring, knowledgeable or competent.

I completely agree with the other comment. Only I started care much later as a result of a move. I appreciate the center taking me as a patient, but I have changed physicians within and am much happier with Dr. Lebo.

Dr. Elfelt did not want to seem to listen to my 'story' when first going to him after 4 miscarriages and now with a healthy pregnancy. He seemed very rushed and chuckled to himself when I asked questions, seeming very arrogant. His cell phone rang twice during our first consultation and his personal radio was blaring in the background. He seemed very preoccupied and distracted, as he sat in jeans. He was not very informative towards me with this being my first pregnancy and my first visit to his center. The doctor's office reminded me of my vet! It was so crowded with patients and was noisy. I miss the old days of small offices. When you call the center, you are put on hold for at least 10 minutes right away. If I weren't new to this area and not 15 weeks pregnant I would find a new obgyn. I now have an appt w/Dr. Tammy Hayton, whom I hope has better a bed-side manner than Elfelt.
