Terrible experience. It's so disheartening when the people who supposedly are women's health advocates, end up taking advantage of the women who are seeking their help/services. I used to go to Dr. McGrory as a late teen/early 20's. She is condescending, judgmental, insensitive, isn't transparent with and takes advantage of her patients. At the last visit, I waited 50 minutes (making me late for work) in the exam room naked. after waiting for so long, i put my clothes back no and left the room and asked what was going on. it wasn't busy so it's not like they were overwhelmed with patients. all the staff and dr. mcgrory were casually strolling around. when she finally came into the exam room, there was no apology for making me wait basically an hour for a procedure that takes 10 minutes. that's messed up. then she tried to get me to redo tests that I had just previously done a couple months ago so that her training NP could get experience. I wonder who was going to pay for those tests.....? She never asked me if this was okay, just assumed. She was incredibly judgmental for STD testing, when you would hope that a female gynecologist would be supportive to young women. She should take a cultural competence training. I hope she retires so she doesn't treat anymore women the way she treated me. When I left a voicemail to complain about my experience, the secretary called back to apologize. It would have been nice if the person who actually did the damage apologized. That speaks for her character. I'd rather eat dirt than have her as my doctor.

After waiting in the waiting room for 15 minutes, I was escorted to an examination room and told to disrobe. I sat waiting in that examination room for 45 minutes before I put my clothing back on and left. Nobody (staff or doctor)came in to check on me. I demanded my copay back, wrote the doctor a note explaining why I left and was never even extended an apology. I only saw one other patient in the waiting room so it wasn't like the office was busy. Needless to say, I would not recommend this practice. I felt like I was in a bad Seinfeld episode. I have no problem waiting in a waiting room, but asking a patient to sit on examination table in a 2X4 examination room half naked is not the way to treat patients or run a practice.

I've gone to Dr. McGrory for a few years now. There was never anything exceptional about my experience with her but everything seemed sufficient in regards to basic follow ups. She explained things to me thoroughly in person but always seemed a bit robotic. I started having some problems at my most recent visit with her. She tested me for a certain condition and ended up giving me misinformation about it. She suggested I start taking an RX without being clear with me about the details of that condition. I went to get a second opinion where the details of the same test results were explained to me. I was told that I didn't have to take the RX and was also told why. The diagnosis was much less serious than expected and the new OBGYN helped me to feel more at east and less judged.

Dr. McGrory is pro-active, not only in the area of OBGYN but in other areas of women's health as well. She ordered a bone density exam due to my age and uncovered osteopenia, a forerunner to osteoporosis. She takes the time to explain in detail, is very caring, runs best tests available. She was one of the first to offer thin-prep PAP smears. And thanks to her, my bladder cancer was discovered. Her staff is absolutely the best. You couldn't do any better in my opinion.
