I can understand about very loud perfume or cologne it also gives me headaches but I don't think that gives anyone the right to tell people that they need to wash it off before they can see the doctor! I have even been to dr's that had on loud cologne and it makes me want to throw up!! I think any perfume or cologne is ok but some people try and bathe in it!!

I am convinced that Dr. August is responsible for saving my life. He is no doubt the best Doctor that I have ever used hands down. Just do what he says and you will get along with him 100% and he will get you on the right path. This man is an asset to our community!! Thank you Dr. August. Daniel L. Smith

Dr August is a great doctor. But I just found he is retiring Dec 21, 2012. I have been a patient for 11 years. I called the office today. (11-9-2012) The lady that answer (very unfriendly nothing new on that)said I should get a letter by Tuesday.

Wonderful doctor that took time to listen and ran tests until he found the problem. Staff and doctor are all very compassionate and want to help their patients.

I waited a long time to see this doctor. I was very sick. When I arrived for my appointment, they told me that I had arrived one month early. I had a letter with the appointment date on it. So thankfully Dr August worked me in. It was totally understandable, mistakes happen. But now, every time that I call they tell me (in a catty tone) that I missed my last appointment (the one they mischeduled). I moved to Chicago, and 2 years later when I called the office again, they were still reminding me that I missed that one appointment. I have to explain that didn’t before continuing the conversation. Every phone call is a challenge. When I ask, "are you sure?" It makes them angry. They argue with me, until I finally get an accurate answer. We could have reached a conclusion without the stress. I like Dr. August, he is a smart guy, but his staff prevent me from seeing him. Between the misinformation about blood tests, wrong appointments, and constant bickering, my health has deteriorated.

I have been a patient of dr august for twenty years. He has saved me many times. When I was young and thought I was indestructible he jumped in and corrected my problems. I haven't been in the hospital for over 14 years because of my diabetes. He is an excellent doctor. Thank god for dr august. Jennifer Dailey.

7/22/11. I saw Dr. August for the first time on 7/15/11. My first impression was what a friendly staff he had. I respected the sign on the door concerning the perfume, for although I don't have headaches, the odors strongly affect my throat/larynx. Don't know the connection, but it does! I was thankful. Dr. August does LISTEN, he wouldn't look at my chart until he heard what I had to personally say about my health issues. I was 100% confident my health issues was in the hands of a good Rr! Patients that complain probably never try giving a smile or being pleasant to a physician or staff, regardless of how the patient feels. The doctors & staff are around 'unhealthy' people all day, every day and although they chose to be in that environment and have a desire to care for the sick, they are humans and sometimes need a 'lift', too! I've found a little kindness goes a long way toward good health/care. Be careful of the bridges you burn!

I am Becky and I work for Dr. August. If you don't like this wonderful Dr. then find another one and good luck to you. As far as the pt that was seen on 6/21, you are the pt that we don't won't to see. Yes, it is me that had over 65 migraines last year and so far 10 this year for smelling your perfume. Do you wear perfume to Church? I don't. Don't you ever put down Dr. August because you WILL NEVER find another Dr. like him. If we are rude it is because of pts. like you. And actually I know who posted this. I hope you didn't make a follow up appt. Please don't waste our time. We are a very busy office. We are not always on time but you have no idea what kind of emergencies we run into. Even though I know who this is I would do the same for you, but I think you need to find another Endo. Good Luck

I had to remind him why I was there based on what he said from my last visit. Instead of talking directly to me he talked into his dictation phone the whole visit. A past visit he went out of the room to take a cell phone call. Office staff are not very nice. He seems to be in a hurry doesn't take much time to listen to YOU. FYI There is a sign posted - if you have on any perfume or colonge go wash it off. I took a shower before I left home not going to take another one. Would not recommend this doctor.

I had been a patient of Dr August for over a year. He put me on a insulin pump and my A1C went from 10.4 to 6.3 within 6 months. Then my sugars began rising and so did my A1C. It went to 7.3 and he said he preferred it there as fewer lows would occur. I have never had problems with lows and have never had a doctor prefer an A1C above 7. I saw a second Dr for this, though not happy with new Dr. Thought about going back, but was told he is not happy when a patient seeks a second opinion and that he might not see me again. I would have to get new Doctors files sent to him to see if he will see me again. Again, never heard of such a thing. I guess he has thin skin. Based on this I would have to say Avoid this Doctor!
