Dr. Katz is horrible!! He was very rude and did not listen or just cut me off. I wanted an MRI For the terrible back pain I've been having for over 3 years, after having a baby 8 months ago my back has worsened. I had an ex ray done 3 years ago by Dr. Grear and it showed my tail bone is not straight and creating pains. I've been on pain meds for a while but hit a point that I need something done not just take meds. Dr. Katz didn't even examine me correctly, didn't look at my ex rays and told me that this is in my head and told me to leave his office. During his brief examination I felt pain and teared up his comment blew me away. He said "woman cry as a form of blackmail". WTF is that!! He is rude and disrespectful and In front of his staff. I told him I've never met a doctor so rude & disrespectful, he respond "that's right and u never will". He has anger management issues and should not be a doctor he doesn't care about patients at all also considering he's already 72. Law suite!!

The Fahey office staff was difficult to work with. They were real quick to get your payment but slow to properly organize the necessary paper work. They also made sure to punish me by putting numerous patients ahead of me. I believe they delayed me because I questioned why it it was taking so long. I arrived 15min before my 3pm app. and left shortly after 6pm. I felt that Dr. Katz was not prepared. I don't believe he spent much time to review my medical folder. Dr.Katz didn't try to make me feel at ease. He would rudely cut my statements short. During the examination Dr. Katz was impatient. He became verbally abusive with personal attacks when I was slow attempting to followed out his commands. When I questioned my diagnosis, he became angered, left the room, slamming the door. He returned moments later and said "Find a new doctor, I never want to see you here again". I would not under any circumstance recommend any services at Fahey clinic.

This doctor is terrible, I do not recommend him to anyone. He is very rude, constantly interrupts, and does not allow the patient any time to talk or think. He then gets annoyed when you take too long to answer. He is very short with his answers, has no bed side manner at all. Health care has changed so much and there are so many better doctors you can choose from. This guy needs to retire, he is too old and obviously does not want to accomodate to patient needs; it's his way or the highway. Don't even bother scheduling an appointment, waste of time!

Dr Katz was the worst doctor I ever went to. He treated me in the most unprofessional manner. He yelled at me, stomped out of the office, belittled my complaints. He basically threw me out of the office telling me everything was in my head & I was even faking my injury. I should have known I was in trouble when I overheard his phone conversation as he told the person on the other end they needed to seek psychiatric treatment. I spoke with another former patient of his, who refuses to see him again due to his treatment to her. This doctor obviously has a pattern of dismissing the patients he'd rather not deal with or he deems their injury is "fake" without even completing an exam. He is past his prime and based on my experience with him, he needs to retire or take some anger management classes. He obviously forgot the reason he became a doctor was to help patients, not toss them out of his office calling them names & reducing them to tears.

I have been a patient of Paul Katz at two entirely different times. First, 8 years ago, I was seriously injured and Dr Katz was assigned to my case-I didn't choose him. He was arrogant and very difficult to deal with. However, I believe his care saved my leg!! And once we made our feelings about his arrogance known to him he improved, slightly. Then, last year, he did a total hip replacement and was a different person. Very patient, helpful and generally nice to be around. He spent alot of time with us, even noting it was good that my wife was taking notes!! He is alot less busy than 8 years ago so maybe is under less stress, but we would recommend him to anyone.

In my observaion, Doctor Katz specializes on a problem alone, refusing to look at the broader picture. Be prepared to hear: "This is not my problem, talk to your primary doctor" type of responsed while being under his care. Also, be sure you run any medication orders he puts in by your primary doctor. It is your responsibility to keep yourself healthy. Overall Doctor Katz is a fine ortopedic surgeon, I've seen his work, it is just all the other stuff he overlooked caused us problems. Also, his attitude is worth noting. Doctor Katz is not here to please or calm you, he can easily storm out of your hospital room if you dare to disagree or question his descisions.

7/26/05 Dr. Paul Katz failed to diagnose what Illinois Bone & Joint immediately saw was avascular necrosis, necessitating a hip replacement. Dr Katz said he saw nothing wrong. Among countless other hostile things, he then told the nurse to send me for another x-ray and “when that shows nothing is wrong, we’ll send her for an MRI" and referring to a bulging disc he said “that can cause you pain, but I won’t tell you where or you’ll lie and pretend it hurts you there.” I was floored! He yelled constantly. When he finally reduced me to tears he became even more enraged slammed his chair back against the wall yelling "we're done here". He is a miserable person. I will never go to him or anyone connected with him or Fahey Medical again. The nurse apologized as did the receptionist who shook her head, said she didn’t know why he IS like this & refunded my copay. It was obvious to me the staff was well practiced in responding to the aftermath of Dr. Katz’s bizarre behavior

Dr. Katz spent a total of 3-5 minutes with me before deciding I needed surgery. He didn't even examine the injury before dimissing me. When I came in for a follow-up appointment (at my insistence) to ask questions about the surgery, recovery time, risks (all things we should have covered in that first appointment), he was rude and angry at our "wasting his time." He did not want my husband in the room with us (the injury was in my hand, so privacy was not a huge issue, and besides this is my HUSBAND) and took issue with my husband taking notes on the surgery and recovery procedures. In short, he was dimissive, rude, and very cold. After much consideration, I cancelled the surgery (not easy to do, since I had arranged time off of work, etc.) and got a second opinion, which we followed and which led to recovery from the injury without surgery. AVOID DR. PAUL KATZ. His concern seems to be with his fees and NOT his patients.
