I went in for my annual and menopause. I asked about hormones to help with hot flashes and sweats. He did not believe I as in menopause even though I had not had a period in 8 months. He gave a rectal exam without warning or asking...shocker!!! He is condesending and has a horrible bedside manner. I am a runner and he quizzed me about my routines and then informed me I was not a runner (because I didn't conform to his idea of how many miles a week one should run. At the end of the appointment he asked me if I wanted to be on prempro..."um I don't know, you are the doctor" was my response. He told me he would put me on it and told me a few side affects. ( the blood work came back and I was in menopause). After 4 weeks of taking prempro, I had been bleeding for 3 of those. I call and the response was "oh your ovaries must have started working". Two weeks later and still bleeding I research more on prempro and find out I should quit immediately. I call to try a new hormone and he wants to do more exams...I did my one in June why do I need another one in October? Worst experience ever!!!

My problem is not that Dr. Bass is a bad doctor, however...I had my baby at Hendricks, and then a nurse threw a fit because I told her to get the f*ck out of my room. She claimed she had to teach me to breast feed. When I had previously breast fed two boys, up to one year and 6months. Plus before that with my daughter whom was a premie I expressed milk for her. So she charted that I did not feed my son for 8 hours. An Bass came in and was like " The nurses are concerned,..." I was like "about what!?". Dr. Bass, three nurses, and Dr. Tuegel basically caused me so much stress, that I lost my breast milk and for the first time in 10 years I had to actually formula feed a child. I was kept for 3 more days extended and had CPS called on me. CPS lady thought it was a crock, and rolled her eyes. I went home and was depressed for over 6 months and because I didn't get my gall bladder removed Dr. Bass refused hormonal birth control, apparently it clogs up the gall bladder even more. The girls in my family are high risk when using non hormonal birth control. So I had to condoms, and it broke, had to of, and I didn't know. I didn't even think twice about it. Dr. Bass did say if I get pregnant again and I have gall stones, that he washes his hands of me. An honestly I am sitting at 23 weeks pregnant, and not a dam doctor in Abilene, except Charles will take me. However Charles is private and does not take Medicaid. So ultimately, I have also consulted another doctor whom will do the sterilization but I have to have my child at home. An I have pregnancy resources asking me " why I don't have a OB GYN, and I told them flat out why". As for the staff, there is one lady there that is amazing, however the other girls I don't really like them. However I am not naming names. I will not go back to Dr. Lohman, he scares me, would not even try to work with me on using proper diet to restore my gall bladder back to good health. He kept insisting that he cut it out. That upset me, because its tax payers money and if the surgery can be avoided, then it needs to be avoided. I I still refuse to get my dam gall bladder out, it works fine and I haven't had an attack in 5months, and before it was almost a year. So basically when I got pregnant again is when I had a small gall bladder attack and after that, nothing. I've switched my diet up some and made alterations to it and I've been great. Just not wanting to have a free birth at home. I know I can handle it, I just would rather not. My area of study about the human body does not deal with birthing babies, I am going to college for a bachelors in Kinesiology. Basically a personal trainer.

Agreeing with the other reviews, Dr. Bass is not a Dr for small talk or is going to be your new BFF. However, that's not what I'm looking for in an obgyn, I didn't choose him to be my new best friend. I wanted a knowledgeable and experienced obstetrician that would deliver my baby in the best health as possible. That is what I got. I do think as a nervous first time mom, he could explain some things a little better to ease our worries. With that said, I would use him again in a heart beat. He is one of the few Drs that still does a routine ultrasound in the last month of pregnancy, (as told to me by a partner OB in town I had to visit because Dr. Bass was out of town. When I asked about the ultrasound Tadvick said that Bass is one of the only one that still practices that in routine normal pregnancies) as a first time mom I was just excited to get to see my baby again. Unbeknownce to me my fluid was low. I had my fluid measured the next couple times and on my 39th week was sent immediately to the hospital to deliver my son. I'm grateful he checked, otherwise I may not have a healthy 5 year old today.

Had a bad experience with this dr. He wouldn't talk to me at all, I had to PROD him for info. 1st time pregnancy so I was scared. I had HG and they never even told me it wasn't normal to be that sick. When I had concerns he just brushed it off like I was complaining. Urine samples sit out exposed in cups with names on them in the bathroom. Broke my water without asking. Gave me pitocin without asking. My husband hated him. Took up to 3 hours for some check-up appts. Miserable experience. He also gave me a rectal exam after birth without warning me first - is that normal? See someone else!

Really, I didnt like this experience with Bass OR the Staff. I felt like l Couldnt ask needed questions, or even talk to Bass about serious matters. He stays quiet only "checks" like so and your appointment is over! You wait longer than your visit with him. The staff ladys are rude and reask if Bass has another appointment with you. That is verry unprofessional. The staff pple conversate with eachother more than US patients and l think that is rude. Everybody in that office along with Bass need to pay attention to bpth their wORK AND PATIENTS!

Scared my friend to death and gave her false information in an abrupt and unkind manner. Staff was not helpful and in fact ruined my friends ability to have her tests covered by insurance at her new OB/GYN. They refused to be helpful in giving records to her. I am actually surprised by the story she gave, that this doctor is allowed to work at/through the Hendrick system. I hope that maybe through some honest comments of my own and others that the doctor will improve his bedside manners and educate his staff.
