Up until about 2 weeks ago Dr David Hodes at Palisades Pulmonary in West Nyack was my primary care Dr for about 5 years, as well as my wife's. But I've mostly only seen his nurse Lorraine Olivero

Dr Hodes had told my wife "if you or your husband ever have something that can't wait, always call me and I'll find a way to fit you in, be persistent". Well, about a week ago I developed shingles on my left eye and my ophthalmologist told me after his visit, to see my primary care Dr right away.

I called DR Hodes a few times and finally got a call back not from the Dr but the receptionist, telling me to go to the emergency ward. I said that's unacceptable. Dr Hodes finally called me back, yelling at me right from the start and said I was ignoring his professional opinion by not going to the emergency room. He then said I could go to his nurse practitioner and he'd "stick his head in".

Ah yes, his nurse, Lorraine Olivero. I didn't want to see her anymore because the last time I did, she offered for me to come to her house at night for 'energy healing' $500 in cash. I don't know what kind of voodoo that is but I wanted no part of her from that minute forward.

The Dr then drags me to the post office to pick up a registered letter saying I could no longer be his patient. Jeez, I think I might cry.

This man's dishonesty, pompousness and rudeness should be known.

The most arrogant man I have ever met. I will never seek his help again. It took 2 days for him to get back to me in an emergency situation.

Simply Wonderful! I accompanied my husband and son who were being seen by Dr. Hodes for the first time, yes we waited, but it was very much worth the wait and when it was our time there was NO rush. He was fully there and engaged with both, at every level. Dr. Hodes listened intently, carefully questioned and responded with great humanity, and concern. He provided clear directives, told us and then wrote down in clear print on index cards his directions for further follow up and things we had to do. I don't recall the last time we received such great care and attention from a primary care provider - yes a REAL doctor, in every sense of the word.

My experience with Dr. Hodes was nothing short of spectacular. He spent a very long time with me, explained his process, diagnosis and proposed treatment and answered all of our questions. I congratulated Dr. Hodes on his bedside manner at the end of my visit. I was recommended to Dr. Hodes by another doctor who is also a long time patient of Dr. Hodes. Based on this recommendation I expected Dr. Hodes to be good but the reality turned out to be way better than my expectations. Same goes for his staff - outstanding.

After phoning 4 a copy of my blood work I was told that they would have to check with him. I never rec'd a call back; so, I made an appt. to have it reviewed. I called before I left home & was told to come 15 minutes after my scheduled time. When I checked in I said I was, & had been in severe pain for months. My husband communicated this to the Dr. during his visit last fall & gave him a copy of my MRI report. After waiting 1 1/4 hrs. I asked for my report so I could leave & was told to wait. Then told that HE wanted me put in a room. I thought he was going to review the results w/ me. He entered the room reciting his office policy that sometimes patients have to wait but he will be there for them in an emergency & emergencies come 1st. He said it was explained to me at my 1st visit & if I couldn't abide by his rules I should seek medical care elsewhere in a loud voice. I said I couldn't agree more. He repeated his statements 4 more times & read off 3 items from my report w/o comment.
