Seems like there is always a long wait. When I arrived for my first appt., they advised me he was running at least 45 minutes late. The waiting room was packed, But I really like him personally as an MD. I was very annoyed at the very long wait, but he was very charming. He questioned something that my PCP has never been concerned about going on for over 15 years, and suggested a test to investigate that. (and more issues were discovered as a result). The day of the procedure went very well. The staff in the procedure center were wonderful - knowing the stress I faced. I thought it was very nice that they each introduced themselves and explained their role. I was NOT so happy with the NP I had to meet with for a followup - the waiting room was empty but I was kept waiting in the exam room for almost 45 minutes. She rushed through the results, and I felt like she was not listening to me very well.

I love Dr. Mayoral and staff. He answers all my questions and takes my concerns seriously. He does not jump to conclusions, or look for an "easy fix" but provides the best care possible. Will continue going to Dr. Mayoral.

2+ hour wait to be blown off by less than 5 minutes w/ the doctor and then to be subjected to a condescending and incompetent staff. There are other specialists in town and I cannot recommend this office to anyone.

While the doctor seemed nice enough and the nurses were very nice, the appointment was rushed, with no time for questions. He obviously hadn't been over my file, as he asked several of the questions on the questionnaire his office had me fill out and ordered blood work identical to what my general practitioner had already ordered -- and sent to Mayoral's office three weeks prior. I had to point out the overlap twice. I didn't think he fully understood my case, and I didn't get a chance to understand his thoughts on it. Since I'm only 24 and his office obviously benefits from colonoscopies, I would have liked a chance to ask why he thought my having one was a necessary first step. I prepared for the appointment by filling out the packet of information his office sent over and making sure my general practitioner had sent anything relevant, but I feel like Mayoral didn't give me the same courtesy.

To be fair, I want to start with some positive feedback. Dr. Mayoral tends to believe and to take seriously what his patients say. He also orders lots of tests even on younger patients (some Dr’s just blow you off). The problem with him is that his thinking is so scattered and rushed that he often misses important points about your case. For instance, my PCP ordered a few blood tests (which came back abnormal) because he was surprised that after 5 years of going to Dr. Mayoral, Dr. Mayoral had never ordered these standard GI tests. Another problem is that Dr. Mayoral is a man of speed. I have seriously had appointments lasting no more than 45 sec. After 5 years of going to Dr. Mayoral, the only thing he has helped is my GERD. Everything else has actually gotten worst.I now can not eat more than one small meal without vomiting. I feel that my negative results can be attributed to the fact that he does not deal with more than one symptom at a time. Not recommended for complex cases.

I was immediately impressed with Dr. Mayoral speed and expertise. He ordered a colonoscopy but I asked to delay it until we could try some other approaches. He listened, worked with me and we resolved my problem without the colonoscopy. When it comes time for my regular colonoscopy I will definitely return to Dr. Mayoral. He has the right balance of technical skills plus caring.
