Doctor Gallo saved my life. When I went to him he set me up for a scope and afterwards said I was the worst case he had ever seen. He almost begged me to go to this other doctor so I did. The doctor done the surgery and sent me back to doctor Gallo for follow up for the last twenty some years. He may be a little different because when I first seen him he told me if I wasn't going to listen to him don't come back, there is no since wasting my time or yours. He is a great guy and I hate to see him retire. I feel like I lost a friend.

Dr. Gallo has a horrible bedside manner and you can expect to spend about 10 minutes in the same room. During that time, he will not look up from his notes, nor will he take any. You will be continually interrupted until you stop talking. But that's just the beginning. I've had appointments cancelled without notification (even checked my call log to see if one went through, nothing there). I've gotten a call to reschedule one week out, only to be called back the day before asking to move it back to the original time. I've had him send me to another specialist who spent 5 minutes with me before passing me off to a third specialist (total cost: $120) because Gallo sent me to the wrong one. Plan to wait at least a half-hour for every appointment, if you schedule first thing, otherwise it'll be longer. And most importantly...
IF YOU SEE DR. GALLO YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE ANYONE ELSE IN THE LOUISVILLE GASTROENTEROLOGY PRACTICE, THEY HAVE A NON-COMPETE SO YOU'RE STUCK WITH HIM.
Choose carefully; choose someone else.

Rude bedside manner and after looking up other reviews from other websites I am not the only one who had this issue with him. Kept interrupting, not listening at all, chewed me out when I called him on his behavior like it is my fault. Basically told me to shut up when I asked him to just let me finish a sentence . I have been in the medical business for 13 years and part of my profession is meeting with physicians to discuss documentation issues (so I have met one on one with a lot of physicians from various specialties). Trust me on this, when a physician treats people this way then they are not very good at their job, best to seek care elsewhere. Having this little compassion and basically making you feel like you are wasting their time it is best to get treatment somewhere else.

I saw Dr. Gallo once. He spent maximum of five minutes with me, barely greeted me, interrupted me impatiently when I explained my symptoms and left the room saying he was going to make arrangements for a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I expected him to return or at least say goodbye, no such luck, he sent his nurse in to escort me out. I have never seen a doctor taking such little time with a new patient and being so rude. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone, he has a distinct lack of people skills. I asked my insurance to switch me to another doctor in this practice and when I called to make an appointment (with referral in hand), they declined and told me that their doctors do not allow " jumping" from one doctor to another. Didn't know seeing a doctor once and then requesting another was jumping around.

Dr Gallo may be a good listener, but we had a bad experience. Had misdiagnosed Achalasia for GERD. EGD was noraml but he still suspected GERD for my swallowing issue. We had called the office again'n'again saying that swallowing problem still persists after taking Nexium for one month. But instead of examining again , nurse doubled the dosage of the pill. Luckily we got a second opinion and further test confirmed it was Achalasia.

Very knowledgeable and willing to discuss your concerns until you fully understand your condition. Does not push for testing unless it is necessary.
