Dr. John K. Throckmorton really knows his stuff. Both my wife and I have seen him for years. He is now in semi-retirement and it can be difficult to catch up with him, but the wait is worthwhile. My wife recently broke her fibia near the foot bones but not technically a 'foot bone'. We went to see a 'sports medicine' orthopedic doctor [Dr. X] who was supposedly on call during our visit to the emergency room. Dr. X was a real narcissist and had no social skills whatsoever let alone any communication savvy. Dr. X also said she could put weight on her foot after three weeks! We then remembered Dr. T and made an appointment with him. My wife is in physical therapy that Dr. T referred us to. Dr. T and his PTs correctly said at least 6 to 8 weeks minimum considering the nature of the break. Its looking good now after a dealing with arrogant and incompetent doctors and PTs at MSU sports medicine. Thank you Dr. T. for being a real pro!!!

Dr. Throckmorton has been treating my feet for years. After a successful bunionectomy, I have been receiving updated orthotics every other year (as insurance allows). I usually take the shoes I want them to fit in WITH me to the appointment, so they are pre-measured for the shoes when I receive them (tennis shoes or dress shoes are way different in shape!). As I age, my feet have been changing and with weight loss, my feet have shifted. He is less willing to do surgery as adjust my orthotics, for which I'm grateful. There is one staff person who is perpetually grouchy. I don't put up with it but confront them. It rapidly stops. :) You're paying for a service. Their service. Call them on it. Dr. T does make them accountable. Dr. Thompson was very nice as well, but I do not see him as often.

I seen Dr. Thomson on 1/29/14 for foot problems and he was a very pleasant, good looking Dr who was very explanatory . I am allowing him to surgically fix my very ugly and very painful feet so after that I will update how things went!

Staff was very nice and helpful. Dr. Throckmorton is very knowledgeable however, avoids what really needs to be done. Surgery is the only option for me. I have been seeing Throckmorton for 5 years, still no surgery.

Dr. T prescribed 1st orthotics in 2001; performed successful surgery on my foot in 2007; orthotics refurbished in 2008. On 6/3/13, in pain, Dr. T prescribed new orthotics. Could not get set-up appt., for molds of my feet until 6/26/13. Waited in pain until 7/29/13 for orthotics. When desk clerk called me for pick up, I indicated I would come in "this afternoon." Arrived at 12:30 PM, office closed/everyone at lunch. I went back, the desk clerk handed me orthotics saying, "Yer'all set." At home, the orthotics didn't begin to fit inside my shoes. Made another trip to have them cut to size. The staff and Dr. T make no apologies for: -Not having a cancellation list; -no rush or priority system; -not telling me the office is closed during lunch; and,-not telling me that orthotics need sizing. I will not recommend Dr. T or return to this practice in the future. Feet still in pain and have an appointment with new podiatrist.

Both Dr. Throckmorton & Dr.Thompson are the best. Unfortunately, they employ the crankiest, most unpleasant staff ever. I picked up $300.00 orthotics and thet refused to size them for me. They are rude, indifferent, uncooperative.

I've been with Dr. T for 25 years; he treated my son when he was little and now me. He's no-nonsense, but kind and understanding. If there's an inexpensive way to fix something, he tries that first. I inherited problems with toenails that he diagnosed quickly..there's no fix, so I go in for "maintenance". I also have congenital curly toe..I had no idea and never suspected it would become a problem; it possible to correct using conservative, inexpensive methods; we tried that, but they didn't work; my toes are too far gone!. So he told me to let it go, and if it becomes a problem to let him know. It has, I will, and while I'm not crazy about the idea of surgery, I wouldn't have anyone else touch my feet!! (I do have to agree with one rater though, there's a woman in the front office who is rude and short tempered...she doesn't do Dr. T, his other staff, or his patients any favors.)

Kind, gentle doctor who didn't seem rushed or hurried. Took time to answer questions. Was very helpful in providing treatment for home instead of demanding additional appts.

My 87 year old mother had an appointment scheduled for a specific date and time. I dropped her off while I parked the car. When I arrived at the building my mom told me when she checked in that she was mistaken and that her appointment was for the following week. I was positive the appointment was for that day and time and even had the reminder card to prove it. I went back into the office and told them that the mistake was not my mom's but it was their mistake. After a unpleasant discussion the staff admitted that they had cancelled the appointment because they thought my mother had died the previous week. How very thoughtful of them to tell my mom it was her mistake not theirs and send her home. If mom had not been accompanied by someone who was prepared to tell them they were in the wrong, they would have sent home, forced her to return another time, and never apologized for cancelling the appointment. I want people to know about this.
