I also have IBD and saw Dr. Gold. I cannot disagree more with the previous review. Dr. Gold was recommended to me by a friend and I by multiple people on the Manalapan Residents Facebook page. Dr. Gold spent over 45 minutes reviewing my history in detail and taking a thorough physical exam. He discussed all of my concerns with my disease, symptoms, medications and alternative medications. He even discussed alternative options to medications such as Curcumin, probiotics and stress management with Yoga. I am so happy that Dr. Gold is now my doctor and look forward to him taking care of me and my disease in the future.

The practice came highly recommended (although for a different doctor in the group). Nominal delays, efficient processing and paperwork, with some automated capabilities that already require an upgrade. Through two office appointments and an off-site surgical procedure, scheduling was mostly maintained (within one hour) and office staff is responsive.

My IBD forced me to leave a lucrative career, among other things. Through three visits including a colonoscopy that confirmed my advanced disease,, Dr. Gold re-iterated my case as “mild”, ignoring all feedback about increased discomfort and pain, from the disease and recommended drug protocol.

Dr. Gold never inquired about mitigating factors; such as, diet and nutrition, an area widely believed to matter greatly for IBD/Crohn’s patient’s, nor did he engage the discussion when I tried to approach it, directly. The most natural remediation opportunity was summarily ignored, then dismissed, in favor of directing me to continue taking meds that make me sicker than my underlying disease.

Even more disconcerting, as I wearily exhibited clear signs of significant anxiety and depression, even openly crying in front of Dr. Gold, as I explained not sleeping, not having normal digestive activity for months at a time, anemia, daily pain, quality of life challenges, not once did he ask about my mental health, and overall well-being. How is that for a comprehensive approach to your IBD care?

Dr. Jared Gold is competent. He offered the established FDA mainline approach to treating IBD. Inquire about new protocols, and how YOUR body chemistry and endocrinology may interact with the disease and prescribed regimen and he ignored the deeper dive or anything that challenges the traditional approach and meds, entirely. Forget about alternative therapies here, too (Crohns/IBD is on the list of approved diseases qualifying for medical cannabis in NJ). If it isn’t on the FDA approved list, and a drug manufacturer doesn’t own the patent, it’s not on Dr. Gold’s radar.

Dr. Gold made no effort to partner with me through a remedy, and other than the same meds that have failed me thus far, he proved to be a dead-end waste of time and money. He seemed frustrated, even punitive when I told him my symptoms were undeterred by his redundant treatment regimen. After several months of more pain, a cost of roughly 10K, loads of wasted hours, another colonoscopy with increased risk of infection, all to re-confirm old news. And in totality, after all that, Dr. Gold spent less than ten minutes talking to me about a way forward for managing my disease so I can work again, mother my children free of constant pain, have a “normal” life. Incredibly, as my colon deteriorates, the annual revenue for the drug companies Dr. Gold seems to favor is in the tens of billions. It’s simply not lucrative to cure people with IBD, but it sure is rewarding to perpetually “treat” them.

Additional note(s): Throughout the office, in the exam rooms, I could hear/discern private doctor/patient discussions. Also, post-colonoscopy office visit wherein no physical examine took place, was unnecessary, as all surgical results were discussed post-procedure, via telephone, and memorialized in written form.

Doctor was definitely preoccupied with getting on to the next patient. He needs to be more "present" in the future and focus on listening to the patient in front of him.

Dr. Gold really helped me feel comfortable when talking about some uncomfortable issues. He is very professional and was able to help me understand the causes of my issue, and offered simple solutions that I did not think would be possible after freaking myself out reading about my symptoms over the internet. Most importantly, his advice has worked. THANKS DR. GOLD!!!
