Dr. Goldfaden recently moved to a new office location at 80 West End Avenue in Somerville. The facility is truly beautiful and spacious. I have been Dr. Goldfaden's patient for many years and could not think of seeing anyone else. She found a melanoma on my father two years ago that ANOTHER LOCAL DERMATOLOGIST MISSED during the exam. The melanoma was excised and my father is doing very well. I see her for a complete skin exam every 6 months and she is very thorough and gentle with me. I like that she takes the time to explain what she is doing as she does it and talks with me about any prescitpions she is writing out for me. I am very pleased with the care Dr. Goldfaden provides me and wish her well in her new facility.

I asked her to go over my lab results with me and was told it was too "time consuming". Unacceptable. I don't feel she has as much knowledge in dermatology as other derms I have seen so I won't go back to her. There is ALWAYS a long wait to be seen - once I waited 10 minutes just to get to the receptionist to check in. I have found the office staff to be quite rude in many instances - there is no excuse for that.

I came to her with a rash to find out the cause. She gave me a perscription for a blood test. (3) of which were not medically necessary, of which now I am being charged for since Medicare won't pay. I've sent a letter to her telling her she is responsible since I should never have had them in the first place. Does she always send patients for tests that they do not need, but wind up the patient having to pay for.????? She also sent me for a chest X-Ray - for a rash????? I did not get the X-Ray. She was very unknowledgeable of the types of rashes and the causes. Will never go to her again and would not recommend her. I ended up not knowing what type of rash I had and what caused it. She told me to go to my primary doctor. My visit with her was useless.

She may be very knowledgeable and experienced in her field, but I had my worst doctor-seeing experience in her clinic. She certainly does not have the patience to answer your questions, even at the moment that you are with her in the exam room. Her nurses behave in the same way. She didn't call me about my biopsy result although the report has been ready for three weeks. (Excuse: "since it is benign, no need to call you") They totally don't understand/care how anxious patients are waiting. Should find a more caring doctor next time.

Great skills. Caught an early melanoma. No muss, no fuss, to the point.
