Just because a doctor's office is busy does not mean they're competent. Such was my experience with this retired Navy physician. Very little bedside manner in general, but terrible with children. Thankfully his nurse (Mrs. Hagstrom) and lab tech (Rex) were great, or my childhood would have been medically terrible. Barely ever managed to diagnose anything that was not ordinary, with both myself and my mother -- but REALLY liked to blame things on emotional disturbance. His solution to a chronic cough was a tonsillectomy and no follow up when that did not work; his solution to kidney stones was to wait in the expensive hospital for them to pass. In the case of my mother, he cost her her life, by misdiagnosing skin cancer for so many years that it became widespread lymphoma. I certainly hope he is now as literally out of practice as he was physically out of practice when I lived in Florida.

Dr. Russell has been our family doctor for over 20 years now. He is very thorough when conducting examinations and does not hesitate to refer you to a specialist if he feels uncomfortable about his findings. By his alertness and quick referral of my wife to an oncologist, her breast cancer was detected in the very early stages thus saving her from having to go through chemotherepy. More importantly, he undoubtedly saved her life.
