I am sending this out because I am wanting to share with potential women in the future. I am done with going to this office... Yesterday was my last time - I will not return. I have seen Dr. Guthaner for the past two years - every 6 months. -- I have very cystic breasts and have had mamagrams/ultra sound every 6 months. I have left ALWAYS in the dark - not feeling satisfied or understanding of my diagnosis. In December I had a special Diagnostic done on the right side - Dr. Guthaner told me I had Multiple "Calcifications" - I asked her to clarify - and she answered me by saying "I'm not a clairvoyent" - I don't know if you have cancer!.... What was I doing there -- anyway I had follow up yesterday for my Ultra Sound - Waited for 2 1/2 hours for my appointment - she walked in and asked Me - "Why do you think you need an Ultrasound?" --- I reminded her that She was the one that told me to schedule it - she hadn't even checked my records. --- I was so upset -- and hurt by her condescending tone... I have to agree with these other ladies reviews - don't go here. It will be a 3 hour appointment - and you will leave feeling ignorant.

I have been a patient of Dr. Guthaner for at least 10 years. Every time I have gone there, she has run extremely late -- most times SEVERAL HOURS late. The excuse is always that she spends time with each patient, but I finally realized that is NOT the case -- she deliberately organizes her schedule so that she has a huge backlog. At 9 in the morning, she had NINE women undressed and waiting in her tiny waiting room. The lack of basic courtesy and respect for her clients is absolutely deplorable. I can't believe how much time I have wasted waiting for her to be ready to see me. Never again. And if I can save someone else from her infuriating business practices, I count that a good deed!

I saw Dr G for many, many years. She is very thorough and thankfully caught my cancer early. I was so scared to get the core biopsy. She and her staff couldn't have BEEN more sensitive to me throughout the procedure. She worked with my breast surgeon prior to my surgery to help obtain more readings on my cancer and squeezed me into a packed schedule within hours of my surgeons request. Please note, cancer doesn't only occur on your mother's side! I highly recommond her.

I saw her 11 years ago as a second opinion on a mammogram I had at Peninsula Medical. She was very thorough and found more calcifications than they spotted. Her early detection saved my life catching my breast cancer at Stage 0. She is the best out there.

She is supposed to be THE BEST, so I saw her because I have a family history of breast cancer. I had regular mammograms, with multiple films each time, and was sent home with a clean bill of health, never being offered any other form of imaging even though they told me I had dense breasts that were difficult to read. I ended up being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer less than 6 months after the last mammogram. I later found out that premenopausal women with difficult mammograms should always have alternate imaging done. After my diagnosis I met another breast cancer survivor for whom Dr Guthaner did not detect her cancer. If you are premenopausal and have any suspicions or are told that you need multiple films on your mammogram, INSIST on sonograms or MRI's!

Dr. Guthaner is the Medical Director of Northern California Women's Imaging Center. I've seen her for the past 7-8 years for Mammograms. You have pictures taken, then sit with Dr. Guthaner to review results before leaving. She's the BEST, no question, and has the credentials to prove it.
