Treated by Dr. Lucas from 3/07 to 4/08 for Lyme. Been untreated approx 2 yrs before I had my primary dr. test me for lyme, which I thought was stupid.I had already been treated for Mycoplasma 4 mths prior to my diagnosis by a dr who specialized in it,had double dosages of antibiotics for a 3 mths period-but when I stopped that treatment ended up worse off a month later, went back to my prim care dr and she tested me for lyme. I knew that her standard protocal would be docy for 3 wks and would probably not cure the lyme since I already had it prior to the mycoplasma treatment. So immediately started to go to Dr. Lucas.I paid up front, but they submitted all paper work to BC/BS.I never had to wait for my alloted appt, and she never rushed me out the door.Yes,Jan can be rough, but with people who don't show up for appts, don't follow the rules-they ruin it for the rest of us.Bring someone with you to take notes. My final lab showed neg, I feel great and have been untreated for lyme over 1yr

My daughter saw 14 MDs in as many months before seeing Dr Lucas. All agreed she was sick but gave no diagnosis or suggestion of where to go next. Dr Lucas knew exactly what was wrong and the labs confirmed her diagnosis. She has always been prompt, gentle, caring, answered questions, and been good about explaining why each treatment is used. I am pleased that Dr Lucas prescribed vitamins and mineral. It is refreshing to find a MD who treats at the cellular level. Because of my extensive Lyme research, I am glad Dr Lucas used the Igenex lab even though it was pricey. I also knew what the treatment protocol should be and it was followed. Most LLMDs do not take insurance - no surprise! The insurance co. reimburse MDs just pennies on the dollar. Jan has always been professional, friendly and helpful. Yes she may be a bit gruff but not every one is super sweet. I consider myself to have found Dr Lucas and recommend her to anyone I know with Lymes etc.

I was treated for late stage lyme disease by Dr. Lucas. After 18 months in treatment, I no longer have any lyme symptoms, and I have remained symptom free for the past two years. Dr. Lucas is the most caring, thorough doctor that I have ever had. She is expensive, but all Lyme Literate doctors are. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Lucas is very caring and almost always prompt. She spends a lot of time with her patients...my first visit was over 2 hours. Subsequent visits are shorter, but thorough. Although I am not sure about Dr. Lucas' experience with lyme (number of cases treated may not be as many as other docs treating lyme), she does seem very dedicated to treating lyme and to the lyme community. She tries very hard to keep patient costs down...does not push unneeded tests or supplements.

Dr. Lucas is very professional and has so far cured me of Babesiosis. That was a very scary organism to have inside me. The symptoms were alarming. Over the years I have seen numerous physicians. For various ailments over those years I have been misdiagnosed on multiple occassions. Even in the face of that, those doctors acted as though they were infallible and beyond reproach. Although Dr. Lucas has so far accurately diagnosed and treated my symptoms, she does not imply that she is infallible. She is a communicator and that is of the greatest importance in the doctor-patient relationship. She is working with me instead of placing herself above me. I think that Dr. Lucas' rates are very fair, much more so than those of a physician I first saw for the same problem and later abandoned. I travel from Florida to see her. Yes, it is expensive to do that and it puts enormous strain on my finances. The travel cost is worth the value that this caring professional provides for me.

I think the pretty much all of the above is wrong she had treated me since I was 18 and I am now 22. Although Jan can be abrasive at first, think about the number of non compliant patients seen in the office everyday. Also looking at bills for missed visits as well as test she will tell you upfront her polices and costs of any tests and why she is ordering them, also test results are not discussed until the time of your visit unless absolutely necessary before the visit as results can be complicated. As far as cost I think it is more than worth it she can not take insurance as it is a huge risk to her when treating those of us with lyme a very complex disease. As far as her approach she is a holistic doctor and will treat you the best she can. If you become pregnant with lyme did you take all the precautions like 6 month of safe treatment prior or did you just go and do it. She is an amazing doctor who has healed me many time and I am apauled at what has been written about her.

Cost my husband & I about $3k for our first visit. Dr L needed to see us every month ($600 per month), even though every other month would have been fine. She then declared us cured of Lyme, simply because our CD-57 was normal, even though I still had many symptoms. She said my symptoms were no longer Lyme related, wanted me to see a friend of hers on the Eastern Shore & still wanted both my husband & I to come in every month and pay $600 though she was not continuing our treatment or giving us meds. If we were cured why would we continue to pay her $600 every month? I didn't get it. Her manager, Jan, is horrid. She bullied me into buying that liver cleanse. Jan is a very mean & rude woman. They had us schedule 3 months of appt's at a time & when I canceled them after being told I was cured I got a notice from them stating they could not see us again because we were not following their protocol. I feel that the thousands of $$ we spent using this Dr L was a complete waste

$700 approx for consult, another $700 approx for labs from Igenix. Initial consult was about 2 hrs. Left with no Rx. Receptionist, Jan is rude, is non-clinical yet tries to play the role. Follow up appt. is about $400, still no Rx. They try and sell you a liver detox from their office for another $250.00 on first visit. Stay away from this Dr. She is all about getting you to keep coming back and taking your money. Very sad as I'm very sick. Gives me the clinical Dx on first visit, than takes it away on 2nd. Wants me to continue on Liver detox. She acknowledges I'm sick, but gave me many scenarios as to what it could be and states she can't test for any of them. If you need disability paperwork filled out or any other documents, you are referred back to your Primary Care Dr.

I thought ok $365 for first visit, surprise they're all over $300. The receptionist called day b4 first appt, and my husband felt downright harrassed. She angered me the first time I met her. Now, I can't get my test results ($235), probably holding them hostage cause I owe for a missed 2nd visit, which I did not get a reminder call for. Never want to see either of them again. Not much history, only there once. P.S. Doc wears Black!!

I tried to work with this dr for almost a year before started to look for a new one. I have hypoT, hypertension, and Lyme disease (that last one was diagnosed by my next dr). Dr Lucas is very polite and seems to be caring person but she made several mistakes in my care. 1) She didn't not convert properly my Synthroid dose to Armour. 2) She put me on high doses of Magnesium/Calcium to control my BP naturally and when 2 mns later she decided it's working, she told me to stop my BP meds. I ended up with BP crisis and was put back on BP meds again. 3) I got pregnant & she switched me to a different BP meds "safe for pregnancy". I came home and looked it up in PDR, there was a warning that it could cause birth defects! I called my OBGyn and he switched me to a proper drug then. Well, that was too many mistakes especially considering that she doesn't take insurance. And yes, her front desk/office manager can be rude sometimes but one can learn to work with her personality.
