A most unprofessional office and doctor. This doctor and his office don’t understand that their role is to help people with their medical problems rather then put them off and then reject them. After rejecting
the idea of gell shots for my knee problem, his office staff did a complete reversal and recommended gell shots. This is without consultation or examination by the doctor. Don’t use this unprofessional quack for any medical procedure.
Four years ago after my wife was undressed, this staff would not let my wife see the doctor until she paid the deductible. This office insisted on the GHI deductible which they had no right to get. When we asked them to bill us, we were informed that my wife would not be seen by the doctor unless the deductible was paid. When she called GHI, they told her to notify them if it happened again. Another doctor had to wait til she recovered the money from them before he could get paid.

I was satisfied with Dr. Howard Rose, but as far as his staff and especially the billing department they are the worst I ever dealt with in any medical office. I went to see Dr. Rose for a knee injury, I saw him twice in 2 weeks. After about another 2 weeks, I got a call from the billing department telling me that they received a call from workers comp insurance company stating that my injury was now under review with workers comp and that Dr. Rose does not handle Worker comp insurance so I need to pay my medical bill out of pocket. At this time I didn’t know that my job switch this from short term disability to a workers comp case. I asked them if I paid this bill can I continue to see Dr. Rose and pay out of pocket while I get this straightened out. I needed to see Dr. Rose next week since I was still in a lot of pain, they told me yes if I paid this bill so I gave them my credit card over the phone and paid the bill. That was on a Thursday and on the following Monday I got a call from the office telling me that I could not come back for any follow up appointments because Dr. Rose does not handle W/C cases, I asked them why did you tell me last week that I can continue to pay out of pocket. They told me “sorry we don’t handle W/C cases you need to find another doctor” then hung up the phone. Later that week I received a statement from Cigna my insurance company showing that they already got paid for that medical bill; effectively they strong armed me into paying a bill that was already paid. When I call them the first time to ask for a refund they refused and told me they are keeping both payments until I show them a letter that the W/C case is either denied or closed. I sent them the letter from the workers comp insurance company stating that the claim was binging denied and they still refuse to give me a refund. Then I also sent then The Report of Injury Denial statement and I also summited a letter to NYS Workers Compensation Board to withdraw all claims just as they asked me to do. I called them back once again and asked them for my refund since I gave them all they asked for? They told me to stop calling and I am disconnecting you now and once again they hung up the phone.
Now its 3 months later and they still have my payment and the payment from Cigna my insurance company, this is so wrong.

Dr. Rose explains very well, took his time, listened and gave me the confidence to receive my treatment. He also speaks French fluently which was a real plus for me. I always recommend him.

The expert, professional and compassionate care I have received from Dr. Rose since 2003. Has been outstanding. He repaired my torn meniscus and performed a very successful TKR. I wa pain free and walking on the boardwalk within six weeks. When I am ready, he will repair my rotator cuff tear.
Dr. Rose always sits next to you and quietly explains MRI, X-RAY results, your options and reason for surgery, if needed. He also takes time to listen carefully which is reassuring. You never feel rushed.
I have been to his new Manhasset location twice. I found the entire staff to be professional, efficient and helpful. My wait time was 20 minutes. Dr. Rose is worth waiting for. If I have to wait longer (future visits), I would be mindful of the times I needed that extra ten minutes of his time to express my concerns and for reassurance.

Dr Rose is a good surgeon but his staff is so bad that I can't recommend him. They are unprofessional, rude, mean, insensitive. They are bullies. His nurse practitioner is a the most unhappy, nasty, disrespectful witch I have come across in a medical setting. I have said all of this to the doctor. I very strongly think he will do nothing about it. I am sure he already knows.

To start, I’ve got extensive experience with sports/orthopedic injuries and have had my share of surgeries, injections, and procedures over the years.

Plain and simple, Dr. Rose is the best doctor I have ever seen. In fact, I fly across the United States to see him because I trust him so much.

He is the whole package… If I were to use professional sports as an analogy, not only would Dr. Rose be a leading scorer and all-star player in the big leagues - He'd be the captain of the championship team and the MVP.

He possesses all the qualities you want in a physician and a surgeon, especially when dealing with complex and ambiguous injuries. He's smart, knowledgeable, and has a great sense of humor. He is a great listener, and shows that he cares about you by never rushing though a visit or dismissing a question or concern.

If you have to wait a little longer than expected in the waiting room before you’re appointment, its only because he’s taking care of his patients and spending time with them. Rest assured, he will take the same amount of time and care with you.

So…

I’ve been seeing Dr. Rose for a complex knee injury for almost a year. After my previous orthopedist who performed two operations on my shoulder was dismissive of this knee injury. I sought a second opinion from Dr. Rose because of the great reviews I read about him online and the reputation of HSS. All I can say is that my experience exceeded the hype!

During my first visit, he listened intently, took the time to thoroughly review my MRI with me and answered every one of my questions.

As any great doctor would do, he started by recommending less invasive treatment before rushing to surgery.

Though the initial procedure didn’t alleviate all of my symptoms, I moved across the country shortly after my visit with him and began seeing doctors on the West Coast who couldn’t diagnose me.

I flew back to New York see Dr. Rose. His amazing staff and assistant Ellen made every effort to accommodate my travels and needs. Upon my return, he took the time to reevaluate my case from start to finish and I ended up having arthroscopic knee surgery with Dr. Rose at HSS.

It was such a great experience and easier than traveling though the airport. His helpful staff, bedside manner, and incredible skill as a surgeon made the surgery and recovery seamless.

I hold Dr. Rose and his staff in the highest regard and have nothing but the highest acclaim for his team.

Dr Rose is an excellent surgeon. He recognized my misdiagnosis from another orthopedic surgeon in 30 seconds by looking at my old films. He performed surgery on my knee and replaced both hips for a friend, all with great results!
