I needed to have an ablation, and was scheduled for the NovaSure procedure. Then, he told me I had to have a D&C first, "to check for cancer" (I'd already had a perfectly clear endometrial biopsy), and "to make sure the NovaSure works right." That didn't fit with what it said in the NovaSure brochure, and when I asked about the discrepancy, I didn't feel like I got a real answer. So I checked with some other doctors, and got more detailed info from NovaSure. ALL of them said the NovaSure outcome is NOT DEPENDENT on haviing a D&C first! So, I was going to have an extra, more INVASIVE procedure, at INCREASED RISK!!! (D&C is done with general anesthesia; NovaSure can be done with local anesthesia.) Why? -- I've changed doctors.
