If you ever need a surgeon to repair your inguinal hernia, look no further, Dr. Michael Maruyama of Clovis is THE BEST. I had a 4-inch cut surgery on 1/14/2020 and 3 weeks later, all swelling were gone and is able to do anything I want. Never took a pain medicine with only one uncomfortable day (minor discomfort) after the surgery. Wallace

Worst staff I have ever encountered. The office manager is rude and smug. Not helpful at all. Murayama treats you like you are an inconvenience in his day.

Biography

Born and raised in the Central San Joaquin Valley, Michael Maruyama grew up on a small farm in Reedley, California. He left the Valley in 1967 to attend the University of Southern California on an academic scholarship, graduating in 1971. ___________ Education ___________ Dr. Maruyama received his MD in 1974 while at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, completing his surgical training at LA County USC Medical Center in 1980. After 13 years, he returned home to start a solo general surgical practice. ___________ Valley Surgical Specialists ___________ As his practice grew, Dr. Maruyama's core values of integrity, compassion and commitment laid the foundation of a new venture in 1995. Along with other surgeons, he helped create and found Valley Surgical Specialists, a multi-specialty surgical group. His philosophy of care is quite simple. "As surgeons we are often faced with difficult clinical decisions. But when I extrapolate the patient as a close member of my family, these decisions become quite clear," Dr. Maruyama says. "In the practice of surgery, if you do only which you would do for your loved ones, there is no trouble in decision making. I learned a long time ago, be a physician first, a surgeon second." ___________ Certification and service ___________ Dr. Michael M Maruyama MD is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Over these years, he served as the Chief of Surgery at Saint Agnes Medical Center, the Chief of Surgery at Clovis Community Medical Center, and the CEO of Valley Surgical Specialists.
