Dr. McRoberts has been my Optometrist for 18years He suggested a surgeon to preform the lasik laser correction .His followup was prompt and thorough . I have always felt safe and secure under his care and never felt rushed or overcharged at all. Friendly efficient staff, top notch equipment.Recently had blurred vision in one eye and he quickly diagnosed the problem and arranged an immediate appointment with a Ophthalmologist near Vancouver General Hospital. Emergency surgery was preformed the same day and Dr. McRoberts followed up with a phone call to my home to check on me. I am grateful for his knowledge and caring attitude . Recommend this Dr. without any hesitation.

I've been a patient of Dr. McRoberts for about 5 years, though I've only gone 3 times over that period. I also was under the belief that he was an opthamologist and this last time felt VERY uncomfortable with the fee . I have some eye issues that need to be followed and understand that more of my fees should be covered by MSP but I got the same information about MSP covering $46. He does have a lot of fancy examining equipment (not to mention a large, fancy office with a killer panoramic view. The new equipment is state of the art and provides some good baseline information, though I felt it was was "pushed" on me for just $35 additional. They offer optical services which Dr. McRoberts insinuates are separate, but when the person running this section allowed me to take some frames home for 2 days to get some second opinions (they had my credit card information), I got 4 calls that afternoon/evening, from the woman serving me, his office assistant, and then him, saying this was not the policy and I should return them right away… then to wait til the woman running the optical section was back in, but they would be charging my credit card $1100. I was pretty shocked and felt this was really unprofessional. No problem with the policy, but just how it was handled with me. I wouldn't purchase glasses from them after this. I will likely be changing my doctor as well, mostly because of the fee business and handling of this. It's too bad. He's nice enough, seems quite knowledgeable. I did appreciate that from the earlier visits I had, he did refer me to a specialist for extensive tests.

Called Dr. McRoberts office @ 604-987-1929. The secretary told me Dr.McRoberts is an Optometrist and NOT an opthalmologist. I brought to her attention Dr.McRoberts is listed as OPTHALMOLOGIST in "RateMd" and that I was also unable to google him! Both my findings came as a big suprise to her! She was extremely evasive to quote Dr. McRoberts' eye examination charges for a senior citizen. To quote, "MSP covers...oh...a dollar..." I told her "MSP will not be pleased to hear this". She changed her colours like a camillian(sp?). Laughingly..."MSP covers something like $46.00. Because Optometrists are opted out of MSP, they can charge whatever they like to seniors. He charges $77.83 over and above MSP charges. Otherwise his charges are $123.00." What a sneaky way Dr. McRoberts runs his office! Go figure if you would want to be Dr. McRoberts patient. Good luck (:
