I saw Carmen for my first prenatal visit & I was miserably nauseous. She berated me for not being happy & was far from being sympathetic. Dr. Grouse was never available for my prenatal visits & when she was she ignored my complaints of contractions @ 20 weeks & condescendingly told me that they were Braxton Hicks. I lost my vaginal plug which caught Carmen's attention & it turned out I was 1 inch dialated. I was hospitalized for a week- given Trebutalin which made me shake uncontrollably, Mag that made me loose all control of my arms & legs & I vomited all over the floor. Then procardia for 2 weeks. These are all off label, untested drugs for pregnant women, as I found out years later once my son struggled with autistic like behavior. When I did come into the hospital in labor, again, I was given pitocin & antibiotics. I never consented or asked for this. I received an epidural that was so strong that I could not feel the contractions or my legs. I needed help holding them up. Apparently, Dr. Grouse was at lunch because after months of preterm labor, 5 hours in labor at the hospital, she wanted me to labor down. My baby was loosing oxygen & I was given an oxygen mask & eventually Dr. Grouse showed up to deliver my baby at 1:00 with an episiotomy, not sure that was necessary! They put a catheter in & when they took it out my bladder was so full that the nurse in training had to grab a drinking cup to catch it all. So very degrading. Horrific experience having Dr. Grouse as my OB/GYN!

It is difficult to warm up to Dr. Grouse or her stand-offish staff, with the exception of her nurse, Carmen, whom I find especially caring and attentive. My typical visits with Dr. Grouse lasts no more than 10 mins. so on the plus side she is efficient, but because the appointment time usually starts late, I feel like I am rushed out. Also, I agree with other comments that her response to a question made me feel dumb. Case in point, the very first question I asked was responded with "did you not remember what I told you before?" I think she forgets what it means to be pregnant for the first time. After that, I was hesitant to ask any more questions at later visits. Because of on-call rotations, Dr. Grouse did not deliver my baby. I never saw her at the hospital, although she claims she had visited during my hospital stay while I was asleep. Hence, I view Dr. Grouse as a doctor, not "my" doctor.

Dr Grouse is simply outstanding in care, compassion, knowledge, thoroughness and referrals if needed. Orange County and Hoag are fortunate to have her. I have referred over a dozen women, including teenage daughters with medical problems, to her. There is not one among them who does not sing praise for who she is, her competency and her caring manner. Time to waste with any of us, no! Focused attention to your needs, always! Go prepared with appropriate questions, and understand your time and her's is not "chit-chat" - and some of us expect that. Bless you Dr. Grouse! I should have written here long ago!

DO NOT USE DR. Grouse. She does not care about her patients, she only cares about making money. I was not aware that my insurance did not have maternity coverage and she used that to her advantage. She put me through many unneccessary tests and never informed me that I did not have maternity coverage. I found out from a hospital where she scheduled a surgery for me that I didn't need either. Save your money and time and don't go to Dr. Grouse.

Don't let the bad review affect your opionion. I have also been going to Dr. Grouse for over 10 years. I have never had a bad experience with her. She always takes the time I need to answer questions and is very caring. It's true that sometimes you wait for awhile but that is because she is very busy and takes the time necessary with each patient.

People are more like to scream their opinions when their unhappy, so in defense I pay for a PPO just to keep Dr. Grouse, Jamie, Carmen,Janet & staff. They are all very sweet, personable and caring. They were excited to hear I was finally pregnant & were compassionate during the loss(having nothing to do with them). They were calling me constantly to review all details of my recovery along with hopeful wishes for the future and endearing hugs. All I can say is, you can please some people some of the time but you cant please all people all the time. Myself & my family will be investing in fertility treatment & look forwrd to Dr. Grouse & her team being a part of that speacial time. Thanks Ladies for your dedication and care.KC

Staff members at the office are rude and impatient - they make you feel like your questions are stupid. I was told to read the booklet when I asked about genetic testing. Appointment schedulers gave me conflicting information regarding frequency of appointments and rarely do I get a live person when I call back.

Dr. Grouse is a wonderful OB, is always friendly, and even gave me a hug when we shared some joy about my getting married. She always asks me if I have any questions and I never feel rushed. However, her office staff is OK. Jaime and Carmen, the nurse practicioner, are wonderful but everyone else makes me feel like a pregnant teenager. Her back office staff is not very nice and always talk down to me. I will go to a different doc for my next baby though, just because I feel I didnt get the best experience
