Dr. Ballinger took the time to explain my problem to me in a way that was very easy to understand. He was willing to try some things to treat my knee pain that weren't just rushing into surgery, which I totally appreciated. Since seeing him my problem has resolved as he said it would, and I have heard many good things about him in the community. I will definitely see him again if I have another ortho problem.

I have ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE in Dr. Ballinger. He has an old-fashioned approach to medicine: listening. My athlete son has seen him for four different injuries (four different body parts!). Each time, Dr. Ballinger has diagnosed the injury quickly, accurately, and without a lot of unnecessary and expensive tests. He worked with the other departments within Samaritan to get quick results and treatment so that my son could recover quickly and fully. He is top notch.

Dr. Ballinger is incompetent. I flipped over bike handles, landed on an outstretched hand, couldn't move my wrist or elbow. He takes an X-ray of my elbow. Dx: Radial head fracture. I ask about taking an X-ray of my swollen, stiff, painful wrist. He responds, "It's just a sprain. When you slam a broom stick into the ground it only breaks in one place."... I was in college and it sounded like a fair statement at the time. But now I'm in medical school and have always aspired to be a surgeon until my wrist started snap, crackling and popping. Turns out when you slam a broom stick into the ground, the end can splinter and the shaft can snap. A Fall On Outstretched hand is classic for a scaphoid fracture of the wrist, which leaves you at risk for aseptic necrosis of the proximal portion of the bone. What Dr. Ballinger did that day was NEGLIGENT. All he had to do was snap an X-ray. A patient (me) with anatomical snuff box pain denied a wrist X-ray. My advice, FIND ANOTHER ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR.

It's been several years since my accident, but Dr. Ballinger's excellent bedside manner has stuck with me. You can tell he loves his work and sincerely cares for his patients. He's an excellent doctor. When he found me in the emergency room 3 hrs after my accident with no pain killers and still strapped to the gerney, he unhooked all the straps, removed the board and picked up my foot at a certain angle so that, for the first time, I experienced an immediate relief which I will never forget. I had three surgeries, with minimal scarring. I HIGHLY recommend him; and his staff is top-notch as well.
