After extensive research trying to find a doctor who would give me the possibility of having a breech delivery, as we had tried for over 6 weeks at that point to try and get our little nugget to flip and she was being a little stubborn, we found Dr. Hakimi at 37 weeks pregnant! My current providers were a midwife practice who do not perform C-section or Breech delivery and were not open to letting me even discuss it. From the minute we met Dr Hakimi we were in LOVE with his overall candor but most of all his kindness. We knew we were making the right decision by switching this late in the game regardless of whether we would be able to breech deliver. He is a one man show (His midwife was on maternity leave), and was always making sure we knew he would take care of us no matter what happened. In the end, as always baby had her own plan and I had to go into a semi urgent C-section following my 39 week appt. I could not have asked for a better person to help facilitate a gentle C-section. He came in and checked on me multiple times in recovery over the next few days and even called once I discharged. My scar is 6 weeks postpartum now and almost completely unvisible unless you look hard. We are SOOOO beyond happy we found him and will continue to see him if we ever come back to needing a hospital birth.

Our very 1st prenatal consultation with his midwife & ended up being GARBAGE....I originally made an appt with Dr. Hakimi & for some reason I was given a midwife at my appointment. Being we don’t have insurance we asked her specific questions about tests, costs, etc. She said bloodwork was a few hundred dollars & the inheritest was roughly $300; OK that sounds reasonable. During the consult I got a feeling she wasn’t confident with the info she was giving us bc she was stammering, going in circles with responses, and not being clear with answers even when asked the same questions again. Days later we received a bill for $2600 which was the inheritest. What?!? About a week later we received another bill for $2400 for general bloodwork. WHAT?!?! We specifically inquired about expectations of costs, so as you can imagine our trust in her faded.

Forward to appointment #3.... This was for an ultrasound which was confirmed by the midwife & front desk twice...a total of 3 confirmations. My husband came with me this time as he was going to demand to speak to a doctor about concerns with the office. This visit was supposed to cost $150; they charged $200 (which I didn’t catch). I was then told I'm scheduled for a consult with Hakimi, not an ultrasound. WRONG. My appt was for an ultrasound only, so I’m thinking why did someone schedule me for a consult when I already had one with the midwife? Hakimi brings my husband & I into his office & my husband begins to tell him of our concerns. Fast forward....Hakimi tells us he personally cancelled my appt with the ultrasound tech bc he wanted to do it himself, however he NEVER had anyone update me: The Uninsured & Paying Customer! Thinking he’s addressing our concerns we continue discussing everything. The clarification from Hakimi regarding the bill: the bloodwork was not “a few hundred dollars”, and the inheritest had a possible discount of $300 from the $2600 cost. This means either his midwife gave us completely wrong info bc that’s how misinformed she is & probably doesn’t have the proper training/knowledge to give prenatal consults, OR this was done intentionally & Hakimi was pretending that she just didn’t know.

Fast forward more... After we spoke, Hakimi told us to wait for him in the waiting room. The girl at the front desk then says we owe $150. HUH?? We were told the ultrasound & consultation were 2 different services & that the $200 we paid was for the consult; we still owed $150 for the ultrasound. Hold up...but we weren’t there for a consultation! There was never an appt for 2 services nor was I updated that Hakimi added on this extra service until AFTER way paid for our appt that morning.

What Hakimi did was the classic bait & switch in order to siphon more $$ for a service that was not agreed upon (remember, we don't have insurance). After going back & forth, we tell them to cancel the ultrasound & to give us copies of all of my medical records. We are done with that office! We believe we were able to see through their bullshit bc we’re paying out-of-pocket, thereby noticing the scams. Our experience echoes many Hakimi's negatives reviews. If we experienced scam tactics with him, I can only imagine what he does with insurance companies.

Difficult to get through to anyone in the office even during emergencies. They have a tendency to lose specimens so necessary tests do not get done and end up giving the patient even more anxiety than is necessary. Doctor Smith is great however it seems like both doctors dont take certain patient due to insurance issues (never heard of this in a practice). Each appt with Doctor Hakimi is rushed and uncomfortable because you cannot communicate your concerns to him. He might have some favorite patients (hence some of the reviews below) but certainly all do not feel the same way.
