I have two special needs children, one is 36 years old and the other is 31 years old. Dr. Young was the only doctor that did not tell me to put my oldest son in a institution. Dr. Young told me 30 years ago that I didn't have to put my son in a institution but it was going to be hard work to keep him out of the institution. Dr. Young first worked at Medical College of Ga then he moved to Winter Haven Florida and finally Fredericksburg, VA.

Dr. Young was such a good doctor that I took my son to in Florida and Fredericksburg Virginia. My son and I flew and drove to the appointments no matter what state he worked. We live in South Carolina.

What does that tell you about Dr. Young expertise if I am willing to fly and drive across many states to take my bi-polar son to him.

Dr. Young kept my son put of the institution with his medication therapy, counseling, behavior management plans and if need hospitalization.

I would recommend Dr. Young to any family in crisis or has a child with multiple problems.

I would say to the families be consistent, fair and caring when dealing with a high management family member.

With hard work and the right doctor things can get better.

Dr. Young came across to us as very uncaring. We had problems with the new medication he prescribed our child and when we called several times to get help we were told to stop calling, to wait until our appointment or go to the local emergency room. Our child ended up having a severe reaction to the medication. Thankfully, her pediatrician's office and local pharmacists were able to give us some guidance since his office ignored our calls. In my opinion, he should not be prescribing medication if he is not willing to help his patients when they have questions or problems with their medication.

My Wife took our daughter to see Dr. Young a week ago. He listened to all my wife's bad stories about our daughter. Did not even think to talk to me or consult another person before he told my wife she had a psychological condition of some type and was exhibiting signs of being bipolar. Our daughter is 4 years old. He talked my wife into trying an anti-psychodi drug to clam her down called Respirdal and had my wife make an appointment to come see him in 2 months to see how the drug worked. I fel like he decived her and knowing she was desparate talked her into tryin it. My daughter was not comfortable with him. He did not even think to have her evaluated to figure out the real problem. I would not recommend him if you want to solve a behavioral problem in children. He obviously believes in doping up and pacient and asking questions later

Dr. Young moved to his new facility and the transition has simple, except for getting responses to issues from his new office. Our son and daughter both see him, and lately, he has been very busy and has not returned phone calls or messages for about 2 weeks. We also are looking for a male therapist for our son, but have had very little success even w/ Dr. Young's assistance. Our son did have a major reaction to medication that were prescribed by Dr. Young, and are currently dealing with that reaction (lost all hair on head & face). It is very difficult to find a qualified Pediatric Psychiatrist in the Fredericksburg area.

Moved to RACSB but took his "complex" cases with him, my son was one. Dr. young takes the time to talk with the patient as well as the parents, very up to date on new medications and also takes a conservative approach with medications at the same time. great bedside manner.
