Dr. Carlson did my back surgery 2 years ago to replace 3 bones in my neck. Well. Today I'm still in pain & he wouldn't give me anything for my pain unless I have another surgery! September 26th of this year. I was scheduled to have Neck Surgery and his Nurse Failed to inform me that I had to stop taking my Baby Aspirin & my Plavix for 7 days. & I just had 2 Heart Attacks this year & have 2 Stints. Also his Nurse lied & said that my Heart Dr. Gave them Permission to perform my Neck Surgery and he never gave them the Permission at all! I can't & will Never Trust him with my Life! I'm now in the process of finding a New Orthopedic who Cares about their patients and listen to them! Don't get Carlson at all! If he had of cut me Open, I wouldn't be here right now telling my Story to you! All I can say us God Stopped My Surgery

Nightmare.
Staff is rude. Dr is an outright lair. So glad I got
A second opinion and went out of the area to take care of my back issues.

*Note: this is the same review I leave for him on other sites because it is easier to copy and paste, rather than re-typing a new review that will express the same opinions.
Dr. Carlson has been an excellent surgeon for me.
Two ACDFs with excellent results. C4-C7 & C7-T1.
My perspective is this:
Medical (anatomical and physiological) abnormalities, which require correction to ensure the potential to live a normal life, often need necessary surgeries. So, in electing to undergo a surgery you need to be sure that your surgeon is highly trained, skilled and knowledgeable. In doing my due diligence, all the Physicians/Surgeons with whom I spoke gave glowing recommendations for Dr. Carlson's skills. Thus, I felt assured in choosing him as my surgeon; but it is upon meeting with him and discerning his qualities that my assurance turned to comfort.
All of my surgeries were smooth. The entire team at OSC and Mary Immaculate are professional (efficient and mannerly). Look, I never entered into my surgeries with an expectation of returning to a 100% normal functioning, compared with the baseline prior to my symptoms onset. However, my pain and mobility are outstanding (granted, everyone's mileage will differ). I can box, lift, do Yoga, and my daily life activities are not as inhibited as before.
What I like most about Dr. Carlson is that he listens and takes the time to address all my concerns, even if they are questions of curiosity, and he always makes sure all modalities that support your recovery and health are implemented. A Dr's time is severely limited, but Dr Carlson even takes the time to have a normal conversation with you. He's real and has a good sense of humor as well. I am happy and grateful to have him as my surgeon.

Read reviews on doctors people. I wish I had before Carlson put a hand on my husband, and my friends. My husband, my cousin's husband and a lady I did home health for, a man at my church, and a neighbor, all had surgery done by Carlson and all wish that he had never touched them. I just watched Carlson video of "why I became a doctor" he says he built cabinets and did carpentry work growing up and then he saw how his brother had a knee surgery repair, and he was interested. Just because he was interested in building and how to repair the body does not mean he would be good at it. He is NOT. I would hate to see the things he has built like cabinets, etc. WARNING ***In order for me to submit this rating for Carlson, I had to put at least one star for each category. So that is why Carlson get any stars, because if you don't, you can't submit your comment. I had to put one star by each of his fields. I tried not to give any stars, but like I said, if I did not I could not write this review. Don't go by a doctors stars, READ HIS REVIEWS, PLEASE
There are plenty of good doctors at this practice, but Carlson is not one of them. The only other Dr. that I know of that has done surgery on family and friends is Dr. Snyder and I refer people to him often. He is a VERY GOOD SURGEON. Susie Sheffield

Horrible doctor, unfriendly, did not listen to our concerns, the moment he came into the room we sensed that all he wants to do is get out as soon as he.. people like this should not become doctors they are going to inlflict more pain then actually taking it away.

I went to a visit to dr. Carlson and he merely talk to me and did no physical exam. Was very unsocial. And did not discuss or get into any details of why he recommended what he recommended to me. Was very uncooperative. And acted as if he wanted to just leave the room right away. Would not recommend this doctor unless you absolutely need it to see him.

Dr. Carlson performed surgery on my spine last July and I have not had any problems since the surgery . I had steroid injection, physical therapy, and spinal injections prior to getting a second opinion from Dr. Carlson. I suffered for months before I took advise from others who had Dr. Carlson for their surgeon and were WELL pleased !
