At the age of 50 my central nervous system freaked out from a lifetime of moderate pain originating in congenital, moderate deformities of knees and hips, physical labor starting @ ten, organized sports in high school, chronic lumbar pain @ 17, cervical injuries/moderate pain from 25, arthritic hips@ 35, continued athletic participation until age 45, and moderate–severe lumbar arthritis @ 50.

I started having severe, body wide phantom pain and muscle spasms. No one would treat me without a "serious" injury— probably thought I wanted pain killers. Or, they thought I was a hypochondriac. I was hourly suicidal, could have violent muscle spasms, and probably appeared insane (The left side of my face was twisted a bit, "crowded," from muscle spasms.).

Several specialists would not treat me, including one other neurologist who simply left the the room while I tried to describe my symptoms. Dr. Olson listened to my complete story, and treated me. I did not admit to suicidal thoughts to anyone until I was a year into treatment.

It saved my life.

I have noticed complaints about being shuttled off to a nurse. In my experience, I had one or two Nurse Practitioner meetings between appointments with Dr. Olson. The first time, I too was pissed and insisted on an appointment Dr. Olson, which I got. Later, I had an emergency, met with a Nurse Practitioner, and started agreeing to the NP appointments. I found it helpful. People hear and see in different ways.

I saw Dr. Olson after having blacked out due to what was believed to have been a seizure. He ran tests and prescribed some medication. Everything seemed ok with his care. A few years later, I had several blackouts in one day, but this time I was able to prevent some of the blackouts by sitting down as soon as I got the weird feeling I would get before everything went blank. Made me question whether I was having seizures or were they heart-related events (syncope). I went back to Dr. Olson again, and told him how the blackouts were different this time. He was uninterested. All he did was increase my medicine. I asked him whether it was possible to stop a seizure while you're having it. You could tell he didn't want to answer it since it would call his seizure diagnosis into question. He just gave a half-nod, which looked like a "yes," and left.

Staff unfriendly. His nurse is rude, condescending, unhelpful. When calls are returned at all it is OVER 24 hours later. They reschedule appointments without telling you until you arrive for it!! Proper tests not ordered, had 4 mri's because they kept imaging only small parts. Main area of pain imaged last!Had apt one day when I was recovering from a bad stomache virus. When I explained to Rhonda why I was moving so slowly that day she looked at me as if I had grown two heads and says well she hoped I wasnt contagious! RUDE RUDE RUDE! Dr Olson himself was ok but his staff is horrible! I work at another area medical facility and would NEVER treat patients in this manner, nor would it be tolerated by our physicians or managers.

Professional and trustworthy. He usually listens until you are finished and is good at explaining medicines and possible side effects to look for. He is NOT like the other bad reviewer says. I have referred other family members to him. You usually need to talk with his nurse instead of the main number if you need to get an urgent appointment because he can get booked up.

DR OLSON IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. WHEN I CAME TO SEE HIM WITH SYMPTOMS THAT HE FOUND "WEIRD, STRANGE" HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. HE'S RUDE AND NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT HE ROLLS HIS EYES WHEN YOU ASK A QUESTION THAT HE FINDS ANNOYING. WHEN I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT A CERTAIN MEDICAL TERM WAS HE TOLD ME "YOU'RE IN NURSING SCHOOL GO LOOK IT UP." I FINALLY DECIDED TO SEEK ANTHOR OPINON AND I GOT A LETTER IN THE MAIL STATING THAT HE WOULD NO LONGER TREAT ME. HE IS ABSOLUTELY A HORRIBLE DR. HE ALSO DID A SPINAL TAP AND BENT THE FIRST NEEDLE IN MY SPINE, AND ORDERED A 24 HOUR URINE TEST THAT I WAS NEVER TOLD THE RESULTS OF BECAUSE "IT DIDN'T REALLY MATTER IT WAS A LONG SHOT ANYWAY." PLEASE SEEK A DIFFERENT DR. IF YOU ARE REFERRED OR SCHEDUALED TO SEE HIM.
