My only experience with this doctor was at the hospital; did not see him in his office. Because we only saw him at the hospital I rated his staff neutral (3) because I had no dealings with them. In our experience with him he was arrogant, condescending and uncooperative. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

Dr. Kistner waited 12 hours before removing my appendix, causing it to burst. Although Kistner denies it bursting, and did not include that in the medical report, I was told by several nurses that it had in fact burst. He also did an open removal leaving me with a 4 inch scar. Generally with an appendix that has not burst, you will remove it lapriscopically with 3 much smaller incisions. His bed side manner was questionable, He visited me ONE time during my 6 days in the hospital. He also double booked his post-op appointments and got to his own office over an hour and a half late, leaving his 5 appointments waiting outside in the Arizona summer for his arrival. I would not recommend this doctor to ANYONE and as the other person noted, if it weren't an emergency... I would have undoubtedly chosen another surgeon.

Not pleased with the lack of care provided to my child after surgery and he seemed very out of sorts (rude) just prior to performing the surgery. He acted like he'd rather be anywhere else than doing his job. He had the nerve to ask me why we were still there when the nursing staff persisted he come to check on my child as per his job. The reason was because he wouldn't come evaluate my son's condition so we could be discharged! You'd think a surgeon who is responsible for writing all the orders on a patient would want to see the patient after performing surgery. If it wasn't an emergency situation, I would have found another surgeon for my child. The surgical scar is also larger than usual for the type of surgery performed, as noted by our pediatrician. Lastly there was no real discussion with me about anything regarding my child's care following surgery. Unknowledgeable and unhelpful to say the least. Very, very disappointed!

BE CAREFUL that he doesn't perform the wrong surgery on you (even if all paperwork indicates that the correct surgery would be performed). He is currently being investigated for wrong surgery by the Arizona Medical Board: www.AZMD.gov
