Contrary to others' experiences, I found Dr. Khromhout to be funny, knowledgeable, and he treated me as though I am an intelligent person. His nurses seemed to like him too. My understanding is that he is a technician only and does not have a general gastroenterology practice.

Blunt to a fault. Poor bedside manner lost this doctor a patient. My young, healthy husband saw him for an endoscopy and was scared to death-- the doctor suggested that, based on his GERD symptoms, cancer was a great possibility. (He was fine.) Scared him to death, and my husband went five years before seeing another GI specialist. We saw this doctor simply because he was the one who visited our hometown clinic. Find the best doctor, even if it's not the most convenient.
