Dr. Clark was disinterested and condescending to the point of laughing out loud at the description of symptoms saying that such a thing didn't exist. He was not thorough in identifying current problems even with prior history of treatment. Actually he asked no questions about how my disease had been treated in the past, how long i had the disease and how frequently in reoccured. His questions did not go anymore in depth than the basic questions one would read on a pamphlet. He made disparaging or sarcastic remarks about two other doctors regarding the course of action they prescribed to me. The office staff was nice.

At least I know I'm not alone. I also felt like the recipient of a condescending attitude. No worries, plenty of other doctors out there.

If you are looking looking for a compassionate doctor who can effectively communicate with his patients, I would not recommend Dr. Clark. While people may come to see him with GI issues or procedures that are "routine" for him, they are most likely not routine and possibly frightening for the patient. I spent a large amount of money to find an answer to my problems and all he left me with are more questions (literally he was walking out the door while I was still trying to ask him questions). When he does answer questions, it is done so in an extremely condescending, impatient manner. I am not sure if Dr. Clark dislikes his job, people or both, but I will be finding another GI doctor.

Although Dr. Clark is very knowledgeable, it’s difficult and uncomfortable getting to that knowledge. I felt like I was a huge bother for Dr. Clark during my office visits. The condition I had was a diseased gallbladder and for 14 weeks prior to gallbladder surgery, Dr. Clark suggested my symptoms were derived from acid reflux (even with gallbladder ultra sound results in hand). I sought the consultation of a surgeon after my first visit with Dr. Clark, who said that my symptoms were also common of gallbladder issues but if the gastroenterologist thinks its acid reflex, to try that course of treatment first. After 12 weeks and at 135 lbs (was 5’11 190 lbs) I went back to Dr Clark for the last time wondering why the acid reflux meds weren’t helping and he simply gave me the “newest” acid reflux treatment available. 2 weeks later I had surgery and 4 weeks later I’m getting back to normal. I had a severely diseased gallbladder.

My experience with Dr. Clark was one of extreme frustration. He may be a well trained doctor, experienced in his field, respected among his colleagues and very capable, however, he does not communicate well with the patient. He is the type of doctor who "always has his hand on the door" ready to bolt. He interrupts; he doesn't listen; he doesn't like to answer questions, especially speculative questions of concern. I recently had a colonoscopy and called Dr.Clark after the procedure to answer some questions not covered at the time of my discharge due to my still being under the anesthetic and to my surprise he responded by being very annoyed and short with me, telling me he doesn't have time to talk to patients when he does twelve per day. He said I should ask my husband what was said and wait until I saw him at my next office visit. His shortness and rude attitude really offended me. I have a problem and I am paying him a lot of money for his knowledge. He needs to be compassioate!
