Treated me for a UTI. Went for f/u after 5 days on abx, no repeat UA done, listened to my lungs, diagnosed me with COPD, gave me inhalers and sent me home. Had to go back 2 days later, had UA, still neede abx for UTI. Had no teaching about my "new" COPD dx or the inhalers. Treated me for last year or so, lost from 190 lbs (I'm 6'2") to 136 lbs. I c/o nervousness and was prescribed klonopin, an anticonvulsive, contraindicated for patients with "respiratory diseases(COPD),Never referred me, in 5+ years to a pulmonologist, never ordered a PFT. Changed to new MD a 6 weeks ago. CBC, serum protein done, PFT, CT of chest and referred to a pulmonologist. I've just been dx with a 61mm abdominal aortic anyeurism, found on the CT of the Chest. I am finally getting the medical ATTENTION I should have received years ago! My new doctor changed my inhalers for COPD and I haven't needed a nebulizer treatment since.I'm on Celexa now for nervousness and I'm gaining wt because I'm calm enough to eat!
