2 very successful knee surgeries, thank you Dr. Scheffer for everything you have done for me.

Dr. Scheffer replaced both my knees 5 months apart and I am so grateful he did and I was able to do the surgery here at MVH. The care and treatment by the Er staff and the staff on the Acute nursing facility is just amazing. No city hospital could possibly provide this kind of personal treatment. The private room and the food provided and the fact that my husband could stay on the sleeper couch in the room was wonderful. Dr. Scheffer was amazing both in his pre, during and after care. The fact that he got his training at the Mayo Clinic in Orthopedics and then spent time. We are all so thrilled that he came to the Vineyard to practice. Many of us now have functioning knees, hips and shoulders thanks to Dr. Scheffer. The ER staff rotates and comes down to MVH from Mass General. What's not to love about this opportunity here on MV.

Dr. Scheffer performed 3 operations on my right knee. The third and final operation was a full knee replacement. I was 44 years old and he recommended the surgery. I WAS an athlete and WAS very active but now after 2+ years, I walk with a cane and experience tremendous pain constantly. I can barely walk down stairs as it will lock up on me or I will receive a sharp enough pain the my knee will buckle. A few months after my surgery he went on to Martha's Vinyard and his replacement says to me, "Well, sorry but you are in the 3-5% where the surgery fails, nothing we can do" My life is dramatically different now and truly wish Scheffer had done his job or at the very least recommended a less intense surgery. Shame on me for trusting this guy and not getting a second opinion.

Dr. Scheffer is knowledgeable and progressive in his field. His surgery skills are excellent and his staff is right there with follow-up treatment and help. I couldn't have made a better choice.

During my visit I felt that I was treated very well.I would absolutely recommend this doctor to my family and friends.I felt this visit was an amazing success!Overall I would rate this visit : outstanding!
