Dr. Peterson is awesome! He was very thorough in his exam of my carpal tunnel issues in both of my hands. He was very knowledgeable on the subject and answered all of my questions. He is very down to earth and I could tell that he actually liked his job. The wait time for an appointment with him (I had to wait a month to get in to see him) was a little frustrating, but well worth the wait. I had bilateral open carpal tunnel release surgery on Friday, October 16th and I expected the pain to be much worse than it actually is. The numbness that had plagued both of my hands is almost gone (my fingertips are still a little numb) but I am very optimistic seeing that I'm less than 24 hours out of surgery. On the day of surgery I was scheduled for 11 am, but he was in fact running almost an hour early (I honestly have never had that happen...ever)! If you are looking for a great orthopedic hand surgeon, look no further! All doctor offices have their quirks or maybe that one employee that isn't so nice, but that's life - adapt and overcome people! I have received excellent care so far and thank you Dr. Peterson for all of your hard work!!! ;D

Dr Peterson did surgery on my wrist due to torn tendon and cartilage, also did surgery for trigger finger, virgin the same hand, the finger is useless, can't even straighten it out, and wrist is needing another surgery to fix what Peterson didn't fix right the first time, he didn't want to listen when I told him it was still hurting.
NEVER USING HIM AGAIN, AND THE WAIT TIME IS OUTRAGEOUS EVEN WITH AN APPOINTMENT..... BAD NEWS ALL THE WAY AROUND!!!!

Dr. Peterson was very helpful during my office visit and advised me I needed surgery for my Carpal Tunnel, which I knew was coming. However, the staff is not so much. The only phone numbers they give you for a main number, the Medical Assistant and Scheduler all go directly to a voice mail system. I have made 4 calls to try to schedule my surgery, leaving 4 messages over 4 days with no response. Although each voice mail message claims they will call you back, I have yet to get a call. My concern is, if this is how responsive they are in trying to schedule surgery, how will I be treated after. It is disturbing that Dr. Peterson's mission statement is " I treat my patients the way I would want to be treated" yet his staff could care less!! Be forewarned if you use this office, do not expect prompt service.

After serious knee surgery, all complaints of foot cramping were excused as after affects of the surgery and would clear. After insisting that we see a neufolgist, I found out that there was nerve damage caused by a turniquet used during surgery. 10 months later I am stil not able to even wear a shoe on the affect foot and can not work. There is no definite time frame as to when it will or will not heal. The knee surgereon has been no help what so ever, and I had to insist that we see a neurologist. He only sent me to a pain management doctor. I wouldn't refer Dr. Daryl Peterson to anyone needing knee surgery.

Biography

Dr. Darryl Peterson was first introduced to medicine at the age of eight, when he helped his great-grandmother deliver a baby on a neighboring farm, near his home in Hammond, Louisiana. Where we lived, the doctors couldn't always come, said Dr. Peterson. Neighbors helped each other. This experience reinforced the philosophy of care that continues to guide Dr. Peterson's Hand Surgery practice today: all patients deserve equal care, regardless of their ability to pay. It also played a role in his decision to become part of CHI St. Joseph Health, where our Mission and values-based ministry centers on serving the poor and vulnerable in our communities. Today Dr. Peterson provides a wide range of services and care to patients, dividing his time between our Operating Room at Regional Hospital and our College Station Orthopedics clinic, where he works alongside experts and therapists to care for patients' hand injuries, deformities and infections. Dr. Peterson is passionate about his work, which he said often focuses on providing individualized care, since hand conditions and injuries can also impact the brain. Like our eyes, mouth and feet, our hands are part of how we sense things, said Dr. Peterson. And, our fingers and hands have an exaggerated representation in the brain. Often, we're not only taking care of the injury; we're also taking care of how a person's life is affected by that injury. Dr. Peterson holds a Doctorate in Medicine from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He completed his Hand Fellowship at the Christine Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, cycling, running and playing tennis with his wife Lydia. Not providing video visits at this time.
