Worst psychiatrist. Loads you up on meds and distances you from family. Don't trust him.

Great Doctor! Helpful and supportive. Really listens and cares. A nice change. I am so glad he came to Windsor.

Great Psychiatrist, you can tell he actually cares. Appointments always start right on time which is great because I am a person who is always on time. Takes the extra step to actually let you know why he is giving you this or that and never makes you feel like you are asking a stupid question. I am a standoffish person so it is difficult to trust doctors, but for the first time in YEARS I click with this doctor so it has really helped my recovery because I can be honest with him without judgement. Keep up the good work doc. We're fortunate to have you in Windsor.

Best psychiatrist I ever had, hands down. Kind, intelligent and very understanding. His staff, especially his personal secretary are all very excellent, I don't understand the low rating for the staff but maybe the staff changed since I saw him last. He is no longer my psychiatrist because unfortunately I moved out of his catchment area but I would highly recommend him and would gladly go back if I ever moved back to London.

Stay away from this guy at all cost. I had several years of 5 to 10 min visits were he prescribed me a large number of phototrophic type drugs which in the long run left me completely messed at 60 yrs old. He left me without a follow up Dr when he London and his poor advice has left me in a more worse state then I was when I first met him. He has left the London hospital to who knows where. I hope if the truth is know they canned him.

Dr. Owen was responsible for prescribing me a massive dose of Lorazepam for years. I didn't need benzodiazepines because I had no significant anxiety - as my previous psychiatrist (now retired) told me. Because of their tendency to create dependency/addiction, my previous psychiatrist refused to prescribe benzos for the three times I had raised anxiety in the 12 years I was with him. I got through those three incidents just fine. Dr. Owen, on the other hand, immediately prescribed the massive dose of Lorazepam, plus clonazepam while I was in hospital. Taking them for years created dependency and severe withdrawal symptoms. My present psychiatrist considered Owen's diagnosis and prescription of benzos as bordering on unethical. I had akathesia, not anxiety. Akathesia can be instantly treated with propranolol. Instead of doing this and sending me home after a couple of hours' observation, Owen kept me in hospital for two weeks. I am now successfully titrating off benzodiazepines, with not a hint of anxiety throughout. Will be off them completely in a matter of weeks. Owen messed my mind and central nervous system up for three years. Even he admitted he had put me on an abnormally high dose, when he was in process of leaving his position at Vic. hospital. It was one of the happiest days of my life when Owen told me he was no longer going to be my psychiatrist. I am now with a very caring psychiatrist, who always gives me lots of time - as opposed to the 15 minutes Owen could manage with his huge workload. He was part of a psychiatric factory, systemically incapable of discovering and treating patients' real needs.

Dr. Owen is an outstanding physician. I have been his patient for approximately 10 years. He’s incredibly compassionate and very professional. He’s a very busy psychiatrist but is always on time and never makes me feel rushed. He has helped me through some extremely difficult times. Sadly, he’s leaving London, Ontario. He will definitely be missed!

I would not let him take care of the mental health of my children. He is an ego first and a doctor second. He knows drugs - has virtually no human relations skills, or is too overworked to show any. If you want someone to push drugs at you, and get you dependent on them, he's your man.

I had a good relationship with him for years, but today I was discharged over 2 missed appointments the last one was a miscommunication with his receptionist. The truth is he is leaving his position in May and just doesn't care about his patients here anymore or else he would have properly closed my file with an exit appointment, Shame on Dr. Owen.

I have been seeing Dr. Owen for 3 years now and I cannot say anything but good things about this gentleman. He has treated me with the utmost respect every time I see him and helps accommodate around my work schedule. I have never felt rushed or that he did not care about my needs with mental health. I would suggest this Dr over many others I know of. Thank you Dr. Owen for doing what you do!
