These days, you pay a lot more out of pocket to see a doctor than in the past. I'm just not willing to accept an arrogant, snotty attitude from my doctor. I don't care how good he thinks he is. Go see Leo Chen if you are in Ft. Walton. He is an excellent surgeon and a class act.

I am very disappointed in my recent surgery with Dr. Macey. He had performed two other surgery's in the past that went great. For some reason, after this double meniscus surgery he only prescribed two days of therapy. I formed a huge blood clot and was told I could still rehab ON MY OWN at my Gym. I did what I was told to do, and now I have hurt my knee further. The PT manager at his office was in shock when she saw I was only told to come for two days and was hesitant to let say OK. My knee was a mess and it was obvious that it needed more time with a professional and that I was in no way qualified to rehab on my own account. I am now having it looked at by the Andrews Institute. We will see where I go from here.

Dr Macey is the best doctor I have ever been treated by. 25 years ago he screwed my ankle back together at the Eglin Air Force Base hospital when we were both young majors - I was flying with a base reserve unit and he was the chief orthopedic surgeon just a few years out of residency. I am now under his care in his civilian practice for a recent proximal humeral fracture (broken arm at the shoulder). The clinic is immaculate, and he and his staff are responsive and caring - no-one could ask for more.

It is impossible to get through to the doctor or nurse by phone. Perscriptions are not done in a timely manner. Phone calls are not returned. The staff will tell you they are giving the doctor a message, but don't. You can't get in to see the doctor when you need to. The doctor himself may be okay, but if you can't see him, can't get a return phone call, or medications that are needed, then that makes the medical care substandard. My advice, find a different doctor.

Dr. Macey has done two surgeries for me. He is the only surgeon I have ever been to and I will continue to seek his care should I need it. Doctors are human and it disheartening to see negative reviews toward a good surgeon. Just as you can not go to your beautician and ask to leave looking like a replica of your favorite movie star, you must have also realistic expectations for surgeries that are to repair damaged body parts. It doesn't always work, and probably more often than not, you will never be your old, 100% self. Regarding the shoulder surgery, perhaps you should have told Dr. Macey that your outcome was not what you had expected, and asked for alternatives. To say that he wouldn't "admit" it didn't turn out right seems like you had false expectations. I am still a long way from perfect since my recent surgery with him, but must respect the long healing process and allow my body to continue it's repair with the help surgery provided.

I've been to him for several injuries. One was a pretty serious shoulder injury. I followed his treatment plan carefully, and was able to avoid surgery. He also completely rebuilt my aunt's foot with incredible results. He knows what he's doing.

Dr. Macey refused to admit that my shoulder surgery was a failure and continued to send me to therapy which only aggravated the condition.
