Dr Ferrante saw me in CA and I live out of state. I thought the appointment was good and he was very knowledgeable. The best part wasn't at my appointment. After I returned to AZ, I saw my orthopedic surgeon and he wanted to amputate my foot. I reached out but didn't know if I would hear back. I knew he wouldn't call specifically but his nurse would and any insight was helpful. Well Dr Ferrante was told about the situation and he called me personally and was so concerned. Everyone has their own opinion and unfortunately, bad situations are always posted all over. I understand that but people should remember to create their own journey. Going to any appointment a patient needs to evaluate based on their experience but if the appointment is met with a negative attitude because you saw bad reviews shame on you. The next time you are rude at work I am going to blast you all over the internet. Be responsible people. Own your behavior is accountable too. You cannot find another Dr in the United States that has been as renowned in the CRPS world. Soak in his knowledge because it could be the most important experience in your chronic pain journey

I have never been so completely insulted by a doctor. His manner is pompous, offensive and overbearing, to say the least. Never mind the 90 minute wait, or whether he is actually a good doctor or not, or if he can help people with pain. This man is offensive. He said I should FIND RELIGION! How about keeping to medicine and not trying to tell me my pain will get better if I pray, or find God, or how to live my life. Shoving religion down a patient's throat is inappropriate, to say the least.

He said, at least 3 times during the appointment, "Welcome to the rest of us" which sounds like I am being a big crybaby who should stop complaining. As if I acted like am the only one dealing with chronic pain. I go through life pretending I am not in pain, but I was at the doctor's office! Should I not complain there? At the PAIN DOCTOR. I mean, it is dumbfounding that he said this to me.

Then he said I seemed angry. Let me tell you, I WAS angry! The poor intern, the look on her face... I should mention I had a lovely interaction with the intern (Dr. Lee) who did a great job. But this review isn't about her, is it?

But wait, there's more.

He said my 'sense of entitlement' is my problem. WAIT, what?! Those words are stupefying, and outrageous to say to a patient. A sense of entitlement from a man who knows me for 8 minutes? Really? That is NOT OK to say to a patient you know nothing about. Just for the record, I have supported myself since I was a teenager and have held a job for over 30 years. I am fostering a child whose mother (who was my neighbor) passed away, and promised I wouldn't let her child go in to foster care. I volunteer at the rescue shelter on my day off and take my 90 year old neighbor to the doctor and to the market. Does this sound like a person who feels like they have a sense of entitlement?

Then, he actually physically intimidated me. He stood with ONE INCH between our faces and continued insulting me. I was already standing at that point, ready to walk out. He excused the intern before 'getting in my face" which I feel was a tactic to literally and physically intimidate me. Disgusting. He is a vile, rude, ignorant man.

Was I a perfect angel? NOPE. I was not. I yelled at him, I did. But this pig crossed the line with me, and I lost it. The office manager had to come and calm me down. Honestly, I felt like that wasn't the first time she had to do that to a disgruntled patient, but that is just a hunch. She seemed, to me, to be hiding her disgust with him but acted very professionally in regards to the situation.

Welcome to my first-ever yelp review of a doctor!

I will be filing an official complaint.

I must concur with the previous posters. The fellow does the exam, Dr. Farrente spends a few minutes and makes a snap decision about what procedure he will do. The residents are the ones who actually do the procedure. It takes a month to get scheduled for a procedure and there is no plan for pain management in the meantime. When I called just days after an appointment asking for some pain meds, I got a call back from the receptionist saying I'd have to make another appointment to come in to discuss that. I asked if I could leave a message for Dr. Farrante and neither he nor even one of his Fellows ever bothered to call me back. They obviously couldn't care less if their patients are in pain.

Unfortunately, he is a very poor communicator. He pushes this task off on his fellows which causes increased communication errors. He will not directly call a patient back. In addition, if the fellow who examines patients first makes what Ferrante thinks is an error, he will simply correct it the way he wants without even discussing it with the patient, leaving said patient in the lurch. This happened with pain meds and is unconscionable. I would never return to this physician, nor recommend him to anyone else and I am also a professional in the health field.

to be an error,

I found Dr. Ferrante to be absolutely brilliant. His early treatment of my CRPS alleviated all the pain. In addition, he answered any questions I had and was always polite and professional, as was his entire staff. I highly recommend him.

He told the insurance carrier he was doing a procedure they would approve and then did a procedure they would not approve. Time share salesman. His "Fellows" attend to you and he pops in on occasion. Do NOT go to this doctor!!!!

Dr. Ferrante has a great staff, but that's about as far as it goes. Unfortunately, Dr. Ferrante doesn't care about whatever problems you might have. Because I'm under the age of 30, not overweight, or using an oxygen tank, my pain apparently doesn't exist. It was urgent enough that I needed rushed MRIs and xrays, but not enough to actually DO anything for the pain. Over two visits, I saw him for a combined total of 5 minutes. He completely disregarded anything I had discussed with his residents, refused to give me anything to help with the pain, yet wanted to do a procedure wherein he'd get to stick me with a bunch of needles, apparently his way of gauging how much "actual" pain a person is in. No thank you. There are plenty of doctors out there who care about more than just their paycheck. I won't be wasting any more of my time in his office.

One of the rudest people I have ever met! When I went in for my 2nd painful epidural injection, he did not deign to even say hello to me, but he did have a running conversation with my beautiful daughter-in-law (who was allowed in because she is an RN) He did seem to acknowledge my presence by waving the very large needle in front of me. He also responded to my tears during my first visit, by telling me that I should go get some "help" for all this crying! I think that he needs the help! The man showed no compassion whatsoever!

Doctor Ferrante employs a deceptive procedure known as a hospital-based clinic. Instead of charging you for a doctor visit ($15 or $25 or whatever your copayment is), he charges you for a hospital-based clinic visit. You end up with two bills. One from him, and another from the hospital for the privilege of basing his practice there. Yet his office is no different from any other doctor's office. It's across the street from the actual hospital. Needless to say, insurance only pays a portion of the hospital bill.

Ditto the feelings and conclusions of previous poster. Michael Ferrante MD did not care about me. Michael Ferrante MD did not care to even try to diagnose my condition. Michael Ferrante MD did not care about the substantial, constant pain I was living in at the time I saw him. Michael Ferrante MD did not exam me, his resident did; but the billing on my insurance letter was Michael Ferrante MD. Despite the diagnostic material, numerous mris, Michael Ferrante MD only conclusion and statement was, "you need to get help". Was "no duh" too much to say to Michael Ferrante MD? A rating of 1 for helpfulness and knowledge because Michael Ferrante MD did not help, did not want to help and did not discuss nor displayed knowledge of my condition. But Michael Ferrante MD sure did bill for what he did not do.
