My mother had back surgery on Sept. 21st, 2009. Back fusion was one of the procedures. She spent 4 days at beaumont, then went to Woodward Hills Nursing Rehab home. On Sept. 30th she was sent home with an infected incision. On the following Monday the visiting nurse call Dr. Herkowitz and told him about the infection. He would not prescribed antibiotics, but said he needed to see the incision. An appt. was made for Wed. My mother had a fever and her incision oozed. Tuesday my father took her to the ER at beaumont. Within 2 hours she was in surgery having the infection drained and placed in a private room. As I suspected she had a serious blood infection. If she would have waited till Wed. she very well could have died. My mother now has to be on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks which indicates a blood and bone infection. Beaware of this doc and beaumont. They lack the proper skills for sterile procedures and protocol. I know many people who have died at beaumont as a result of incompetence
