Wait time is unacceptable!!! My appointment was at 2:30 pm. Waited to be called back for about 15 minutes. Once in the room and directed to strip to only my underwear in a cold exam room I waited another 45 minutes to be seen. I took paid time off work for this. My time is valuable. Why do doctors think this is acceptable? Got news for you, it’s not!!!

I overall had a great experience both times at this office. First for a consult, then for a laser procedure. The waiting room has a spa-like feel, and the receptionist is very friendly and helpful. The NP I met with was helpful and listened well. Dr. McCune was very knowledgeable and answered the loads of questions I dropped on him. I have other health issues that he took into careful consideration. I am just a couple days out from my procedure, but assuming all heals as expected, and is it so far, I would highly recommend this office and doctor!

My first appointment with Dr McCune was after I was suffering with a skin problem for over a year, I saw several other dermatologists with no resolution. He diagnosed and treated my malady that first visit. I wouldn't go to anyone else.

The Physician Assistants are excellent especially Lindsay and Matt, and the staff is delightful. After I had a disappointing experience 4 years ago with a nurse practitioner, I sent a constructive letter to Dr. McCune. In 2014 I have had several medically necessary procedures at this office, and I now rate Dr. McCune's office as top notch and a very caring environment. I would definitely recommend Dr. McCune and his staff to anyone needing such medical services.

I have been a patient of this practice since 2003 and recently went in with a small area on my cheek that wouldn't heal- I thought it was infected. I first, with an appointment and the receptionist, ( the nice one who wears gloves because she has a latex allergy) told me they were running about 40 minutes behind schedule. OK, no problem. I actually waited 2 hours to get into a room, then when I had been in the room 20+ minutes they came in and told me I had seen the PA "Lindsay," even though it had been 3 or 4 years ago, so I would need to see her, even though they had scheduled me with someone else. It was clear they were trying to make an excuse for horrible scheduling. Eventually, Lindsay came in and did not apologize for the 2.5 hour wait I had just endured. She spent a total of 5 minutes with me and pooh poohed my concerns about this wound on my face, even though I told her it had been this size and this way for over a week and was not a deep scab, it should have stabbed over and fallen off by now. She gave me some Bactroban ointment and some doxycycline and said she wanted to see me again in two weeks. She did not culture it or anything. 10 days later, again with no change, I sent a picture of it to a friend in CA who is a doctor and he said I needed immediately to go back, that it looked ( by a picture!) to be a very bad infection. I had to BEG this office to get me in. I saw Lindsay again and again, expressed to her I thought something was VERY wrong. She said I needed to leave it alone and even though it again had not reduced in size, she was very pleased with how it was doing. I told her it was oozing yellow fluid, she said that was a good sign of normal healing. She even recommend that I go off of the doxycycline that I had finished a 12 day course of. Dr McCune has all of these YOUNG assistants, PA's working for him and when I left the room with Lindsay they are all standing around and stare at you. I felt frustrated and humiliated. Fast forward a week and I had to go to KU ER room on a Sunday morning and had a 102 degree fever, my cheek was the size of a golf ball with red streaks coming out of it. They had to do a CAT scan and there was massive amount of infection inside my cheek. It was a staph/MRSA infection and had turned into a cellulitis infection. I am now left with a HUGE scar right on my cheek, when if it had been treated correctly, would have gone away. Once the KU ER got me onto the right antibiotic, it reduced in size immediately, but the infection had drained through the outside of my cheek clear through the inside. I am left with a huge scar and have had to go to a plastic surgeon in Chicago to talk about fixing it, since I do not trust anyone in KC to do it. Luckily, it did drain or the MRSA could have gone to my brain directly from this spot on my face and killed me quickly. This office has people practicing that should not be. They have no bedside manner, no respect for your time and/ or your concerns. No way would I ever see them again for anything.

I recently was diagnosed with some basal cell skin cancer. Dr. McCune and his entire organization were professional, friendly, and, most importantly effective. I am now 100% fine after surgery and wholeheartedly recommend this organization.

I'll start by mentioning that I have never actually met with Dr. McCune. I've had several appointments with Kansas City Dermatology, but I never get an actual doctor. My experience today was very poor. The nurse practitioner was 40 min late and didn't even offer an apology. She asked me what kind of gum I was chewing then diagnosed my condition without even removing my make up to look at the rash on my skin. She offered several reasons for the "rash", but did not listen to a single word I said, nor was she able to answer any of my questions. Further, she proceeded to tell me that my son who has been diagnosed with the same condition by his pediatrician, was misdiagnosed. My son was NOT at the appointment with me. She told me that he probably has eczema and was sure he had patches on his arms and behind his knees. Again, he was not with me and I found it offensive that she assumed I would not have noticed such a thing on my own child.I will never take my business to KCD again.

I am at high risk for skin cancer, and need regular monitoring. The issue with Dr. McCune is that you never actually see Dr. McCune, if you are a cancer patient you only see a rotating staff of LPN's or assistants. After my third one leaving his office and no consistency between them on how to remove pre-cancerous growths. I am going to look for an office where you can see the doctor even if you don't need a cosmetic procedure. The only time I saw Dr. McCune was when I had a question about a cosmetic procedure.

Dr. Mark McCune is never on time and seems to value his time more than his patient's time. He is always at least an hour late and does not consider it a problem. His staff admittedly double books all of his appointment times. I am a Doctor, as well, and my patients wait time is extremely important to me. I have had to walk out of Dr. McCune's waiting room three times after waiting for more than an hour. He needs to revamp his practice, so that patients are seen at their scheduled time or he will lose more and more clients - like myself.
