Dr Turgeon and Dr Pinnar ruined my life in October of 1991. They operated on my 28 year old husband and he became a comatose patient for 7 years and passed away. They wanted to operate on him to get this type of surgery as part of their surgical resume. I had just given birth to a son in June of 1991, so my son grew up without a father. I did sue, but they blamed the anesthesiologist. My belief is that they were not experienced enough to do this surgery and remove the Pheochromocytoma. This man should have never been allowed to practice again.

Made a mistake during surgery that could have killed me. Had problems for a week, spoke to staff every day and when I went in to see him, he acted like he had no idea what was going on.Had to have two surgeries to correct what was done wrong the first time. Very simple procedure that went horribly wrong.

I went to see Dr. Turgeon after a 9 cm mass was found on my spleen incidentally. I was last appointment of the day and he was very dismissive. First berated me for going to Inova Urgent Care instead of Reston Hospital ER. He didn't take much time with me. He didn't try to feel for the mass at all or examine me in any way. Simply told me that people have cysts on their spleen all the time and they live long lives. He didn't at all seem concerned about the size of the cyst (size of an orange). I felt as though I was the one thing standing between him and his evening at home. On his assurance, I went another year before getting a second opinion. Second surgeon decided to take out the cyst due to its size. Turns out it wasn't a cyst at all, but a cancerous low grade tumor. I had no symptoms. Thus, if I had simply gone on Turgeon's quick advice, I would have continued to have cancer for who knows how long. Had my spleen removed last September due to regrowth of tumor.

Dr.Turgeon removed a benign tumor. It went OK,but his-and his office staff's-manners are OFFENSIVE! At the first appointment, his nurse curtly asked "Why did you let it get so big?" When I began to explain, she blurted out"TMI...TMI"{too much information)Why did she ask?(I had been told elsewhere my insurance would not cover it) Then Dr. Turgeon came in and asked just as curtly,"Why did you let it get so big?" Later, when I was leaving the office, the woman at the front desk called out, announcing the actual size of my tumor,"WOW,(XX) CENTIMETERS! WE'LL MAKE A LOT OF MONEY ON THAT!" A few days after the operation,I was in a lot of pain from fluid built up under the scar.He drained it,but told me it would have gone away"Eventually." He stressed this several times, which was really annoying, because it rally hurt.He didn't seem to mind.

I was told by a number of doctors that I had a benign tumor on my left neck. After examination Dr. Turgeon told me I had no such tumor. I told him it hurt to lift my left arm. He told me even if I had a tumor it would have nothing to do with my arm pain. He was so rude and dismissive that I walked out of his office. I am a nurse and know that doctors don't know everything. I went to another surgeon who removed the tumor, which I did have by the way and now I can raise my arm without pain. Dr. Turgeon doesn't listen to his patients so if he dismisses you please get a second opinion or better yet don't go to him at all.

Dr. Turgeon and his associates are amazing. I was seen in the ER and needed an emergency appendectomy. Dr. Turgeon was on call and performed the surgery right away. He was very knowledgeable and spoke with me patiently about any concerns or questions. He made sure to follow up with me the next day and made sure I was doing well. My post op appointment was fast and informative. I would recommend this practice.
