I saw Dr. Brayfield as my GP for a few years. For the most part I appreciated his knowledge and bedside manner. However, an issue came up with a regular pain medication I was taking (related to dosage and a lowering in what the insurance company would pay for) and he became stubborn, unhelpful and quite rude in not responding to my phone calls. I was looking to him for a solution to this problem because I couldn't afford to private pay what the insurance company wouldn't (around $600/mo) and was essentially suddenly left with no pain meds every third day (this is NOT something a doctor does to someone whose been taking pain meds for years). I had to go to the ER to get the necessary meds until I could get in to see a doctor who would help me. I have heard that this type of situation is not unusual for Dr. Brayfield...that patients appreciate his care until some issue comes up that he will not change his mind about, and it seems terribly unreasonable. He has been a part of several different medical practices over time in the same area and while I don't know for sure why he moves around I can suppose it is something similar.
