I’ve never been seen in this office however my review is based re: my gf who’s an MA and also a phlebotomist who has applied at this office 3x in the past year at this office and she keeps getting shunned. Who is the practice manager ? Why won’t you give her a chance ? She’s been a clinical MA for over 6 years a NPA certified phlebotomist who was the top student in her class. Your loss! It’s obvious you can’t keep your staff because every time I turn around your office is looking for a MA or receptionist. Whomever your practice manager is ?? Tell them I said “ they stink “

This practice has gone through a lot of changes with good older docs leaving. I would not send my dog to L. Spero! His exam is looking at a MRI, not the patient. He doesn’t give a hoot!

Dr. Spero has changed my life! I had two lumbar surgeries as they were part of a two part fusion with 10 days in between each. Unfortunately, as workers comp would rather take the less expensive route and keep me in pain management rather than approve the surgery I slowly became bed ridden from 60% to 80% to being bed ridden 100% of the time 6 weeks prior to surgery. I had my first two level lumbar fusion with a neurosurgeon in 2009 and when things didn’t go as he expected he stopped seeing me. I was referred to Dr. Spero by my mom who had a lumbar fusion with him and she was like new. So, he has been treating me on and off for the past 8 years from PT, epidurals, and facet injections. He’s is easy to speak with, he’s a great listener, he’s empathetic, he’s patient, as well as compassionate and caring!! He has prescribed me pain medication in the past when I first started seeing him and then of course following the surgeries. He has NEVER treated me like a drug seeker and unfortunately in this day and age given the recent epidemic with narcotic use I get treated like that often. Also, I have never found him to be pompous or curt as some of the other reviews had noted. I’ve never felt rushed nor have I had to wait long at my appointments. With regard to the appointments, Dr. Spero always gives me his undevided attention and explains everything from my test results to treatment options, whether conventional, surgical, and or pharmaceutical thoroughly and patiently. Also, there have been times when I have contacted the on-call service and Dr. Spero returns the calls ASAP. Finally, doing the fusion in two parts greatly reduces the amount of pain rather than doing everything all at once and I can tell you from experience that this surgical technique or option was far less painful than the prior fusion that was performed in one surgery. I was up and walking, with a walker, for short distances the 1st day following both of Dr. Spero’s surgeries. I couldn’t have been happier!! He has given me back my legs, quality of life, my smile, time with my family, and has returned a great deal of my functionality! I have my life back so in my book he truly is the BEST!!!!

they put you in a room & you sit there for about 45 min. There is nothing in the room for him to put up your X-rays to discuss. Ok so a person doesn't know how to read X-rays but they can still show & tell & explain. All he said was "I need to rebuild your lower back". That's it. Before leaving, I asked for muscle relaxer. Said "I am a fixer, not a pill dispenser". Whatever. Hope I never have to go back.

Dr. Spero ruined my husband! He performed what we were told would be a simple disectomy in an out patient facility and rushed thru the surgery, leaving disc and bone fragments in. My husband sought help from a neurosurgeon approx 2 weeks later because of increased pain, much worse than prior to surgery, and when the new doctor reviewed the before and after MRIs, he just shook his head and advised us that my husband would need a "re-do" surgery. My husband ended up with osteomyelitis & staph infection and ultimately ended up having a total of 4 surgeries, the last one being a triple level fusion. My husband is left with permanent nerve damage in his leg and is now crippled. I blame Spero for this. If he hadn't rushed thru the first surgery perhaps the three surgeries that followed could have been avoided . I thought he was arrogant too. He didn't even speak to us in pre-op like most doctor's do. There are other back surgeons out there. Do your research. I wish we did.

Met with him after the best Doctor I have ever had left (dr McCarthy). Was so rude to me and looked at me as if I was seeking medication. I am only 30 and had to have 3 fusions. I was asking for a referral for pain Managment and he refused and literally said and I QUOTE "There is nothing I can do for you at all , my advice would be physical therapy and learn to live with the pain" . He asked if that was all and as I attempted to pick up my jaw from the floor left the room and said "good luck". Just a rude doctor with ZERO bedside manner. If your reading this spero guess what...... I had another slipped disc in between the two fusions. So glad I didn't take your advice

As a patient, if you need spinal surgery, go elsewhere. The people at this office leave much to be desired. The PA's are awful. One guy need a shave , looks like he needs a bath and a change of clothes.

I was a patient of dr spero's for a number of years & then changed to a closer Doctor- after 2 years my new dr left his practice & so I returned to dr Spero. I had my first and last visit in early December. He was impersonal rude & short- not friendly at all . This was a visit for a referral for pain management- an epidural to my cervical spine. Today I received the denial for the epidural along w dr spero's doctors notes from my visit. There was a whole paragraph about a detailed exam he gave me - problem is he NEVER examined me - not at all- never touched me - I'm not sure what his motive was for falsifying my documents& of course I cannot prove it because there wasn't anyone else w me in the room - I am appalled that a doctor can do something like this without regret- it wasn't a good visit anyway- he asked me a lot of questions& that was all- I knew when I left there that day I wouldn't return but I was shocked to see his write up on an exam he never performed- shame on dr Spero for being completely dishonest

I was a patient of Dr. Spero's for over 5 years. I always thought he was pompous but a decent doctor. A few months ago, I called in for a refill for my medication (NOT A NARCOTIC BTW) and his secretary called me back and said he wouldnt fill it. Why? It was because they had confused me and my request with another patient! They accused me of trying to get a narcotic. I was annoyed but didn't think much of it once I said I never requested that medication. No apology from them (they made me feel like a drug seeker). So he filled my muscle relaxer.....fine. So I call for another refill a month or so later and he refuses to fill it. Why? Because I no longer need his care and my pup should be handling my prescriptions. What? He didn't seem to mind seeing me less than a year ago taking my copy and X-rays. I think it goes back to their mistake on my prescription requests. Again, I never spoke to him although I would have gladly done so but he made his poor secretary deal with it! All this drama for a muscle relaxer!!! Good riddance and my pup had no problem taking over my care and referring me to a great new orthopedic MD. My advice.......there are many better options than treatment from him.
