I went to the ER in pain after having a total colectomy surgery at Mayo Clinic. When the scans showed I had a blockage at my anastomosis site I was admitted into the hospital and was given Dr. Bass. He figured out what went wrong with my 1st surgery that caused the blockage & fixed it! I have never felt so much compassion from a surgeon. Normally they do the surgery & are done with you. Dr. Bass has the best bedside manner & he also explains things so you understand. He also follows up with you and spends time answering your questions. Here I went all the way to Mayo Clinic to have surgery, had multiple complications and ended up having a surgeon here at home fix everything! My follow up appt was fantastic. Once again he took the time to talk to me, explain things to me and get my questions answered. I never felt rushed. I am truly blessed to whomever chose Dr. Bass to take my case when I was admitted into the hospital. I could not have asked for a better surgeon

Dr. Bass and his staff are all caring and very professional. Dr. did my surgery in 1999 and has followed up with me ever since. He diagnosed me fast, put together a care plan and I am alive and well 9 years now.

Dr Bass seems to be a knowledgeable doctor and he has a great deal of experience. However, he is very, very arrogant. His inflated attitude is just something that I can not accept. Personally, I want a doctor that is skilled AND cares.

Dr Bass was one of 4 surgeons that I interviewed in 1999 after a diagnosis of Rectal Cancer. He was more concerned with my prognosis, treatment plan and outcome than with the fact that I was uninsured at the time. I have been seeing Dr. Bass for follow up for 7 years now (and have insurance YEA). He stays up to date on the most advanced procedures for colon and rectal cancer, is board certified by the society of colon and rectal surgeons. Always has time for quetions and has one of the best bed side manors you will find. His office staff is helpful and makes sure that he has everything you need.
