I scheduled a visit because I had classic symptoms of hypothyroidism and a family history of it. Instead of ordering a simple lab test, he started in on how he believed my symptoms were stemming from depression. He then gave me some "free samples" of a new anti-depressant to try. The next day I was seen by a Gastroenterologist (whom I had previously set up an appointment with) and he noticed my enlarged thyroid gland immediately. My TSH level was over 24 (6 times normal) and I have been taking Synthroid for the last 5 years now. Looking back at pictures of myself, it was so obvious my thyroid gland was huge. I would never recommend a physician who is family/general practice but yet feels qualified to make a depression diagnosis based off one ten minute conversation and then proceed to push pills.

We began utilizing Dr. Chapin more than two years ago. We have never had problems getting appointments. It is wonderful that you actually see him, not a nurse practitioner, PA, or only a nurse (nothing wrong with such people, I just expect to see the person whose name is on the practice). We have found him to be cordial and an excellent listener. I agree that he is not a pill pusher and always looks for the best way to treat an issue. We also continue to use his practice although he has dropped the particular service of our insurance (he passes the discount on to the patient).

Very helpful and honest with myself and my family. Down-to-earth but truthful. I was too fat and needed to stop smoking. Typically on time plus his staff have always gotten us in that day when we needed it. We've never needed it but he does make house calls for some of his older patients. I feel better and I am taking fewer and less expensive medicines since changing to Dr. Chapin. I am very pleased with his care.

Not very helpful, extreemly judgemental. Does not listen to patient just assumes he knows. Never on time and does not reming you of appoinments. Billing department can not seem to get the billing right you have to fight with them constantly.
