in some ways he has helped me, but I have found in the past year that he has been less helpful. He seemed preoccupied with personal stuff. In stepping back, I find myself more and more feeling as if he is more show than substance, and this upsets me. It upsets me that I have allowed myself to be fooled. I have invested a lot of time with him, and right now I feel worse than I have in a very long time. I wish I could recommend him for therapy, but I can't.

He is currently involved in developing an innovative treatment program for emerging adults with severe psychiatric illnesses. The program is both unique and expensive. It helps to understand what they do and what you are paying for, so that you can make an educated decision about whether it is right for you, and you can afford it.

He is very knowledgeable and sometimes forgets that there are exceptions to the rule-- it seemed like, when I walked into a session with him, it was all about me figuring out the REAL "answer" (explaining why I was [emotionally] struggling with any given problem or problems, internally or externally), which had been patiently waiting for verbal recognition in Dr. Viner's head since the minute I walked in. I often felt intimidated-- because what I thought I thought wasn't really what I was thinking about...

He is very, ehhh, ambitious (that is clearly a euphomism). Power-hungry, though in a subtle way. Seems to play a lot of mind-games. Yet, he is helpful! He has enormous insight when it comes to why you act the way you do. He forces you to think. He challenges skewed thoughts. A very kind man, but there is definitely something off.

He is very expensive even for the area, and this is something that may cause me to look elsewhere. $245 for 45 minutes and not a minute more is rather expensive. Friends in NY say they don't pays that much. So, this is a big negative for me. Plus he likes people to come more than once per week. So, it is a lot at even twice per week.
