I was very fortunate to have Tom Durcan as my family physician from the time he took over the practice from Doctor Slade ( sometime in the late 70's? )Always amiable, positive minded, personable., easy to relate to. It was a rare thing to have a doctor who also had managed both my parents end of life situations. there is a degree of comfort in knowing your physician has a framework of your true family medical history. I will miss him but wish him the best in his well deserved retirement.
I have had Dr Durcan in my family for mor then 30 years. I true Professional! Him and his staff where always excellent. Very down to earth, VERY organized . I Never felt rushed or unheard. A true gentlemen. I don't see a lot of Dr.s like him anymore. He will be truly missed. I will warn the new Drs and staff that took over are rude, and organized. I find the atmosphere cold. The one Dr. Seems very quick to wright a Rx instead of getting to the source of the problem. I am looking for a new Dr. That has the passion for truly helping people like Durcan did.
I gave Dr. Durcan 5 stars for punctuality even though I had a short wait sometimes because it never bothered me as I know that he never rushed anyone including myself. Had him as my family doctor for over 30 years and nothing but good to say about him. Will miss you and nothing but happiness on your retirement.
Sad to hear about his retirement, but happy for him. He has been our family doctor for over 27 years, and for my wife's family longer than that. A true professional, with excellent diagnostic and communication skills, as well as empathy and compassion. He is emblematic of what a great family physician should be. I know he has retired from his practice, however he would be a great role model for the young family physicians-to-be currently enrolled at McMaster Medical School.
Dr. Durcan has been our family physician for several decades. His compassion, patience and knowledge are top notch. He has treated and advised us through everything from sprains and broken bones to a heart attack and major surgeries. He always explained things in terms the lay person could easily grasp but was never condescending. He always had time to listen. I'm sure all of his patients will miss him greatly. I feel sorry for his replacement as he/she will have to follow one of the best!
I am heartbroken to hear about Dr. Durcan's retirement. He has been my doctor for the past 33 years since I was 4 years old. He is the kindest man and the most incredible, compassionate and attentive doctor. I would never feel anything but well taken care of in Dr. Durcan's care. I now have to start the search for a new doctor which makes me nervous. I know that noone will ever compare to Dr. Durcan for sure. I also feel I need to make a note about his nurse, Sue. She's absolutely incredible to deal with and was always ever so helpful anytime we called or were into the office. Thank you for all of your years of service, Dr. Durcan. Our family will miss you greatly. I can honestly say that I teared up when I heard about your retirement. You deserve it though. Enjoy!
We have just received a letter stating Dr. Durcan's retirement as of January 2015. I have been dreading this day, I know there will never be another physician who is as caring, thoughtful and who always made you feel as though he had all the time in the world at all my appointments! He deserves to enjoy his retirement and know that he has touched so many lives. He could never be replaced.
