I just need to respond to the below patient review. This is very very unusual. We apologize for your experience, but certainly not at all the case. Of course, obstetric practices run late because we add on patients during the day with emergencies, but it has never been 2.5 hours. If you would like to speak to the manager, please call the office.

First off I want to state that I was referred to this practice by another Mt. Sinai physician. I myself am the daughter of a physician and nearly my entire family is comprised of physicians, OBs included, so I understand how busy and stressed doctors are. That does NOT excuse the following care I've received: Dr. Barbieri has been my OB for the past 2 years. I got abnormal results from my pap and I have been trying to get in touch with her since 3/29 to discuss my results to no avail. I've emailed her via the patient portal 3 times (they are all still unread) and called the office numerous times though no call back from her. Dr. Barbieri told me I didn't even need to get a pap smear done since I had one last year - maybe that's the new standard but I'm not comfortable with it and I felt like i had to convince HER to give ME a pap. Thank god I insisted. Dr. Averbuch called me back instead regarding my abnormal results. I found her to be extremely dismissive and it was like pulling teeth to get information out of her. Not to mention, my appointment was 2.5 hours late and I felt EXTREMELY rushed through my appointment with Dr. Barbieri. Needless to say, I pointed out a lump to her that I felt about a month prior to my appointment. She referred me to a radiologist and the biopsy came back as cancerous. Again, thank God i felt the lump because who knows if she would have found it during how RUSHED she was throughout my appointment. I have called her 3 times, emailed her again via the patient portal, and AGAIN she has failed to call me to discuss my results for now a FULL 3 DAYS SINCE RECEIVING A CANCER DIAGNOSIS. Dr. Averbuch did, to which again I stated that I would like to speak to MY physician directly. There was no chance I was going to endure her tone again. I am SO disappointed, upset and frustrated. I would advise women to STAY AWAY from this practice. The standard of care and lack of follow up and communication is horrendous. We deserve better.

I have been a patient of Dr. Barbieri for over 2 years. I got pregnant in 2013 and gave birth in June 2014. Dr. Barbieri was not only one of the best OBGYN medical doctors but also she calmed me down at the most difficult times. Whe i had gestational diabtes she supported me so much.She was very clear in terms of her procedures and spent quality time with me. Whenever there was a medical emergency she would make herself available to respond back to my questions. She goes beyond meeting patients' expectations. I wish there was more Dr. Barbieri's around. Dr. Barbieri thank you very much for being such a great doctor.

I was seeing Dr. Barbieri for years for routine stuff. Once I asked her what looked to be a skin tag on my vag was and she said "probably genital warts, don't be so promiscuous" (in relationship at the time for 5 years, and I now know that was totally inappropriate to say), so I asked her to biopsy it, and she said " I don't have time" after I waited 2 hours to see her (ended up being nothing). Long story short, she was always on maternity leave. I am a woman, so of coarse I understand but here's the problem. Her NP did swabs, and sono. I had a ruptured cyst in my ovary, no call. A yeast infection that self resolved, but again, no call. I had EXTREME abdominal cramping from it- months later. She said she would see me, and 2 hours of waiting, the staff said she left- was too busy, I had to go to the ER. Lastly, she was away again, and I had a visit with a covering MD. Months after the visit, I went to see her (cramping again, now diagnosed with endometriosis) and waited sooo long I was fed up and requested my records, which were promptly copied. As I look through them, I realize I had tested positive for a STD ( teenager) and there was a note from the covering he discussed it with me. Which was total nonsense!!! The number they had on file was wrong, so I was wondering how he could of called. There were other means of reaching me, but that wasn't done. She looked at me and basically said she didn't care and he kept saying we spoke, which I know was impossible. She's the worst person/doctor I have ever dealt with. It's taken me years to speak up about this, but people should know how she can be. I was a young girl, and that's no way to treat someone

Dr. Barbieri is one of the nicest, most compassionate doctors I know. She delivered my daughter in 2009 and will be delivering my second baby next month. She has moved her practice from Mt. Sinai to the Upper West Side and her partners all seem to be just as nice as she is. Whichever doctor is on call always calls you back within minutes which is so reassuring when you have an issue. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.

I had the most wonderful experience throughout my pregnancy with Dr. Barbieri as well as in delivery (C-section). She was extremely knowldgeable, skilled surgeon and great bedside manner. I couldn't be happier with choosing her as my ob for this second pregnancy.

I had the most wonderful pregnancy and birth experience with Dr Barbieri. She is truly a wonderful OB/GYN and would recommend her highly.

Dr Barbieri is the most wonderful doctor in the universe. She is compassionate, caring, thorough, and an all around wonderful person. Highly recommended.

I adore Dr. Barbieri. She is kind, considerate, and, above all, very knowledgeable. Doesn't get any better!

Dr. Barber is an angel! She delivered my daughter in 2009. She was so compassionate and patient with me. I loved going to all of my appointments and actually even miss the frequent prenatal appointments. The staff was wonderful especially her M.A. They always made me feel welcomed and 'at home'. I will definitely have her deliver all of my future babies :)
