My mom had a hip surgery in Dec 2025. Dr Zywiel was very professional, and the surgery went very well. He was also surprisingly responsive to followup after this, even responding while on vacation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other patients as well as any of the recovery staff (both in-hospital and later outpatient support). They all clearly understood the issues and provided important guidance to my mother. The on-line system was also very helpful, which allowed both my mom and I to better understand post-surgery instructions.

Dr. Michael G. Zywiel is a phenomenal orthopedic surgeon all around. Personality, knowledge, experience, skill, attentiveness, availability. He performed my husband's hip replacement surgery in February 2026. Everything went perfectly. This guy is amazing.

Dr. Zywiel performed my second hip replacement on Oct. 10, 2025. The surgery results have been great once again. I was walking my 30-minute neighbourhood route within 3 weeks and was back at the gym today. But the most exceptional aspect of Dr. Zywiel is his commitment to his patients. In January 2025, while on vacation in Florida and experiencing pain in my right hip, I sent an email message to his receptionist in the evening requesting an appointment to see Dr. Zywiel when I returned to Canada. While I had copied the message to the doctor, I was shocked to receive a response by email that night. An appointment was arranged, and the rest is a very good news story. Dr. Zywiel is definitely a 5-star surgeon and a great person.

Dr. Żywiel is a true professional — a master of hip replacement surgery — and his entire team is outstanding. He performs around 350 surgeries a year, so he really knows what he’s talking about. He recommended a bilateral hip replacement for me, and I decided to go ahead with it. I’m 60 years old and now 30 days post-surgery. The entire procedure took less than 2.5 hours, and I was discharged from the hospital just 5 hours later. I started walking with a walker right away, and after only 10 days, I was walking without it. Two days after that, I even drove to the park for a 1 km walk. I’m extremely happy with the healing process and my overall recovery. Of course, I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support of my wife — she’s been incredible throughout this journey.

Very impressed with the care, compassion and professionalism demonstrated by this amazing surgeon. He didn’t try to convince me one way or the other. Told me what my options were and advised to me to think about what I wanted. Would have loved for him to have reconstructed my knees, but that was a too complicated a procedure. This was my first surgery ever and he and his staff handled the entire process from start to finish professionally, efficiently and the results were impeccable. I had hip replacement surgery. It took 6 weeks to get the appointment which is not too bad and then 5 – 6 months to get the appointment for the surgery. I understand now the wait time is closer to 10 months. Nonetheless everything was handled well; I was well informed in advance and well prepared for the surgery. Surgery was an hour and 15 minutes and I was out of the hospital 2 hours later using my walker and within a day using a cane. He is kind, considerate and post surgery, kept in touch with me and answered all my questions as issues arose. And most importantly, the surgery was handled well, without any complications, other than swelling of the legs which has not entirely dissipated in 1 foot 11 months later but overall an excellent result. And I was back playing tennis in a moderate way after 3 months and almost full-time after 4 or 5 months and after 6 months playing tennis singles even better than ever. Thank you Dr. Zyweil.
