Biography
Amber Y. Bellamy, M.D., is a family medical practitioner that came to medicine in a somewhat non-traditional way. 'Medical care was a complete mystery to me. A high school science teacher arranged a trip for our class to explore science careers, and I felt drawn to medicine, so that I could help demystify it for others,' she said. In addition to having a desire to make medicine accessible to everyone, Dr. Bellamy also feels her medical career has been impacted by a variety of factors. 'Not having access to medical care as a child and young adult influenced my philosophy, plus my liberal arts background- literature, philosophy and critical thinking,' she said. Born and raised in Texas, she trained at the University of Arizona in the 1990s before heading to San Francisco to practice community family medicine for 25 years. She is excited to return to Tucson saying she loved it then and loves it now. She enjoys her daily yoga practice, feminist speculative fiction and backyard birding.
