Ratings for Dr. Karl B. Baurick
The wait times are frustrating but he's been a very helpful dr.
Dr. Baurick is a very cocky, smug Dr. He does not listen to your concerns. I nearly lost my life because of him and the lives of my babies and ended up in the ICU for 4 days. Thankfully I delivered when he was on vacation by another Dr. which is what saved my life. After he got back from vacation he never once checked to see how I was doing in the ICU while I was fighting for my life or how my premature babies were doing. I have seen him MANY times over the years and still have yet to hear a word from him. My husband told me when I was pregnant that people at work at told him that Dr. Baurick had malpractice lawsuits against him and it's why he left TVC and started his own practice. I thought "no way"...I should have listened!
I should have sued this "doctor"...I had my water break early and my doc was out of town...so i saw him. He never once offered me antibiotics(which i later came to find out is usually protocol in such instances). I was bedridden and drank enough liquids to keep baby safe, but then i got an infection. I have already lost one baby due to infection and went to ER and told them i KNEW i had an infection. It just so happens he was the doc on call at the time. He never looked me over or did any tests...he gave the nurse orders to check my reflexes and temp. and because I didn't have a fever he sent me away saying i didn't have an infection. Three days later I was in the ER and ended up spending three days in there, losing my baby, getting a blood transfusion...worst experience of my life..and i owe it all to Dr. Baurick
The Midwife Tonya was great, I can't speak for the whole practice, but my experience with Dr Baurick was ridiculous. I started my prenatal care with a midwife and a consult with Dr. Baurick when I was 4 months pregnant, and had a hysterectomy after I delivered. In the year of care, I had multiple appointments with the Dr, and NEVER ONCE was he less than 30 minutes late to a scheduled appointment or I had to reschedule because something came up. Now I understand that he see's other patient's BUT, if he can't handle his work load and give the patients the time and care they deserve, then he should take less patients. It was EXTREMELY frustrating to have to reschedule or wait sometimes hours. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate. And while I was waiting this last time, he was walking around talking to his nurse about his kids science project and eating breakfast while he had patients waiting. Very disappointed with this practice, have already changed OB provider.
Worst doctor ever. Not only did he push a c-section fron the moment we arrived at the hospital, but he even went so far as to tell me I was putting my baby's life in danger when there was no evidence to support his statement. He was rude to my mom, and rude to the nurses - who were fantastically supportive of my desires to have a natural childbirth. I wouldn't go to him if he was the last doctor on earth.
He tends to act like a know-it-all and speaks his opinion as if it's fact when second opinions have proved otherwise. I don't like being treated like I'm stupid by anyone, especially one who is supposed to help me through such a difficult time. I will not be coming back and unless you're as hardened and skeptical as him, I would not recommend him.
Maybe he knows his job, but he suggests procedures that you don't really need. I paid a lot of money, but my problem wasn't resolved. I went to see another doctor and he helped me without surgery. I would know he is like that I wouldn't visit him. Oh, and his nurses never call you back. So, you basically just guess what' s going on. I don' t think it' s right. You have to notify your patient, because you work for me, I am your boss and you have to represent a good service!!!!
He was ordering fertility tests and suggesting treatments that were unnecessary and unlikely to help according to the next doctor I went to. His nurse made several mistakes like forgetting to call in prescription and ordering the wrong blood test. However, he was friendly and helpful.
