I live in a remote part of Newfoundland. Recently I went to my local ER with a flare of my Crons disease. They called the on call GI doctors at the Health Sciences and I was recommended that I be put on Prenisone again. The ER sent a referral to Dr. McGraw and he called me a couple of days later and changed me to a new pill and I felt better within a couple of days. Thank God for Dr. McGraw.
I have heard Dr. MacGraw on CBC, I believe, explaining about Research results of the frequency of colorectal cancer in NL and the fact, that it is the highest in the country. I have never heard a more understandable, precise explanation. Congratulation! Will share this with my facebook "friends". My history: I am a Permanent Resident and had not cunsulted medical assistance for 25 years. When I no longer was able to function, and had no family doctor, I went back to Germany. I was sure that I had cancer. The blood results showed, that I had almost no red blood cells left. Within 6 weeks, I went through all steps of examinations, endoscopies, cancer tests of gynocoligist, Urologist. I was diagnosed with a silly bleeding polyp in my stomach. It nearly killed me. All took approx. 6 weeks. My intention of this: Canada should adopt a similar health system, such as the one in Germany. It comes with a high cost for the population, approx. 15-20% of the income. This system has its disadvantages. Every Doctor in too many small communities, has his own medical equipment, and stuff, a high cost factor for the System. Just my personal judgment.
Dr. McGrath is absolutely the best GI I have ever seen. I have travelled across Canada for over 25 years for work and seen numerous GI in Ontario and Alberta for Crohns. I retired home 5 years ago and managed to get in to see him before he stopped taking new patients. I’m so lucky to have been referred to him regarding my Crohn’s disease, he changed my biological and things have been great ever since. I hope Dr. McGrath doesn’t retire anytime soon.
Absolutely the best. I have been seeing him for almost 20 years and he has helped me immensely. It’s been harder dealing with my Crons this past year while he has been off but Thankfully my GP is still around and can write the prescriptions. I hope Dr. McGrath continues to take the time he needs to fully recover.
Superb physician. I have been seeing him for almost 20 years, the only thing I’ll say is that the poor guy seems overworked and looks tired. Chin up Doc!
