Fineman, was the first doctor we saw when my husband's speech started to slur and he was unable to clear his saliva beginning in mid 2021. We contacted Mayo who set up the initial appointment. Dr. Fineman diagnosed him with long COVID. Once that diagnosis was made by the almighty Mayo it stuck. What my husband really had was ALS. I had seen three other people close to me die from this disease and recognized the his symptoms. I specifically asked if it could be ALS. He told us unequivocally, no. Fineman sent him for speech therapy and occupational therapy. He did that for several months and there was no improvement. Things only got worse. But because Mayo said it was long COVID the next three neurologists we went to glommed on to that diagnosis. I know this disease is ALWAYS terminal. But Fineman's diagnosis robbed us of the time we had. We spent two years trying to find a diagnosis and getting treatment that would do absolutely no good. It also cost us money because we could have been receiving monetary and other assistance from the VA as my husband was a veteran. That included a monthly stipend of >$3000 and actual therapy to make his life easier. It took almost two years to get a diagnosis, obtained in July of 2023. My husband died in March 2024. I have no idea why Mayo set us up with a neurologist specializing in headaches. My husband had no headaches. Yes, I am still angry about the lost time. Time we spent searching for answers. Certainly any decent neurologist would have recognized the signs I did.

Doesn’t listen, very condescending. Never addressed the issue I came in with.

I was on a morphine type med, seeing him for sinus infection. All he did was lecture me on get off my medicin, instead of addressing why I was there to see him. I was in Pain Management. He voiced his concern,ok thank you. Once was enough,I needed him to address why I was there to see him. In real!

Dr. Fineman is the best neurologist in the area. He takes the time to listen to you and knows your medical conditions and remembers you when you return 3 months later. He explains what's going on with you so you can understand in simple English. Excellent doctor. Marie, his nurse is great, always so happy to see you.

I suffer with Diabetes II w/Neuropathy and severe Occipital Neuralgia. I cannot take oxycodone, etc. or forms of Opium. I believed he could help me regain a pain free existence, and he did. I received injections when needed to the back of my skull and he prescribed Cymbalta for my feet and hands. I recently had total knee replacement and thanks to Dr Fine man these conditions did not flare up. I give Dr Fine man the highest grade possible. I can function without head pain or neurological OBSTRUCTION to my hands and feet. God bless him!
